Is it a good idea to ever disable mixed content?

Unread post by moonbat » 2019-10-20, 01:36

Just as completely disabling Javascript makes no sense on the modern web, is this also one of those settings better left alone?
In theory, I can see why you wouldn't need to serve everything over https - static images, for example, but with the push for https everywhere even that's changing.

If by "modern" web one means junk, tracking, fingerprinting and data mining - I fully agree.
After all it mostly depends on which sites one favors.
As for me scripting is disabled most of the time and I'm fine with it for more than 95% of my online presence.

As for most people let them enjoy the sweet web experience "modern" web offers. :)

Blocking mixed passive content, i.e. images, the only type allowed by default in Pale Moon, will break things like externally linked images in forum posts. It may also break web sites with external images. Its usually fine to block but you meed to be aware some things will break as a result especially things with user content

Is it a good idea to block non SSL scripts on an otherwise encrypted site?

The defaults are defaults for a reason. Defaults are usually a good idea.
