Microsoft now conspiring with pro-Monsanto front group “NewsGuard”
to censor all anti-GMO news on mobile devices.

Man, they must have read the Google play book.

Speaking of wishing PM was on android, yes I know, ain't gonna happen.
Does anyone know of a good android browser that is even close to the likes of PM?

I bumped into android browser problem recently, would even accept a chromish browser iron, but it turned that addons not to be installed on mobile. So i had to set the firefox, not so bad choise for mobile then, but beware, it messes with camera when enabled quit with delete browsing data. Restrict access to the camera, and for sure block *mozilla* requests.

I don't do much of web browsing on Android, but when I do, I use Kiwi Browser.

There is the Android version of Waterfox. I disabled Chrome and use this browser exclusively on my phone.

IIHC, you don't need to "jailbreak" Android phones like you have to with cough cough Apple iPhones.

There have been so many changes to UXP to ensure our desktop applications are awesome that it has severally damaged and bitrotted fennec and without some serious dedicated android development it will never compile again and I do mean to the point of rewriting a sizeable chunk of it.

We do more than backport sec bugs and a few features here and there you know. UXP is not just esr52++, it is the hope and dream of all of us for the future!

Honestly I think for Pale Moon on Android to be a thing again, someone needs to write a new app; perhaps building on GeckoView and not UXP, and integrating a Sync 1.1/Weave client for synchronization. Pretty sure none of us (the current devs) has the time to create and maintain it.

I'd want one to be XUL based so that XUL extensions can easily work. Any "Pale Moon for Android" will need an adblocker never the less.

Do you think fennec-xul can be salvaged at this point?

If it can, that would be great -- it's going to be a huge undertaking though, no matter what solution will be chosen.

That also isn't worth trying to pull an unfinished mobile client up from gecko/14 to UXP.. Besides, I was never a fan of either UI.. A new one should be created with the minimal amount of native code to just get it displaying a xul window and system affecting prefs.

The rest would str8 forward.

Thanks, I took a look at that and it looks promising.
I'll keep crossing my fingers that some rich bored android programmer
will show up and self fund himself to make the new PM android browser.

Thank you for this suggestion. I downloaded it and played with it for a bit
and liked it a lot. The fact that you can use Ublock Origin and ABP was
huge factor. I also like the layout and workings of the browser. Much
better than the very outdated Opera beta I have been using for years.

One of the coolest things I think for me is the ability to change the font
size of the web pages to the default size your using in Android. This makes
surfing and reading pages much easier as you don't have to pinch and expand
or double tap most pages.

So far, it's the best I have used and is much better than the older F.F. browser
of a few years ago. Pretty snappy too. The ability to use some popular add on's
from F.F. is a huge plus. ;)

And of course, having the crap from F.F. removed or disabled is the biggest of them all.

I used to use PM in Android, but I found it to be rather slow. Now I just use Chrome which I despise and never will use it on my computers unless I need a HAR file and then I'll just run the portable version. Reason why I need to use Chrome for a HAR file is because CloudFlare requests it. Anyway, since Android is pretty much no privacy (same with Apple) might as well use their BS browser to so things don't break. It's happened to me trying to use a captive portal. Other mobile browsers just wouldn't work.

If interested in a browser and other crap for Android of the "privacy" realm, check this website out. https://prism-break.org/en/ Remember, on the Internet, everything with a grain of salt. Just because they say this and that is GNU and all this crap really means nothing.

Funny how they use Google to host the site.

Try to use Tor Browser for all of your web surfing. It will offer you far better anonymity than any other browser.
Don't even get me started with that fallacy. You're better off with a good VPN.

Well, so far I have been using Waterfox for a couple of weeks now with my new
phone and I have to say, while it's nothing like PM on my desktop, it does better than
any other browser "I would be willing to put on my phone". UBlock Origin and ABP both
work very well, and allow me to keep things workable. That and open new tab in forground
makes it a usable browser. Now if I could only find a good speed dial add on that worked on
it, then it would be even better. ;)

Pale Moon on Android would be an amazing. The current browser market on Android is wrecked. Everything is chrome-based and FF is too slow and bloated.
FOSS Browser is pretty cool and also Privacy Browser (both are on F-droid).
But I want a reader mode and both these two browser lack it, so yeah, I am on Fennec Browser (F-droid)

Regardless of the browser, I think Fennecs are cute looking animals.
