Honestly, I'm very sceptical about their response because it's not the first, second or even third time when they've decided to screw up users of Pale Moon, Basilisk, etc.

I know, so I am really curious to know what their excuse is this time because there really is only so many times I'm willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt.

Fifth time should be closer to the mark. As a minimum.

Cloudflare arguably is both the best and worst thing to happen to the internet in general. This whole fiasco is one reason why I think it’s bad.back2themoon wrote: ↑2026-04-09, 14:19Fifth time should be closer to the mark. As a minimum.

Best?
I find it has done nothing of redeeming value, while it is a constant barb. Centralising antibot and denial-of-service shielding is a terrible idea at face value.

Cloudflare has always been a complete shit show, from the very beginning. There is nothing redeeming there. Anyone paying attention knew this from the start. I boggles my mind how some folks have taken so long to come around on this.

I'm leaning more towards them being completely apathetic with regards to us. They can't bother doing anything outside the chromium sphere. Probably the only reason they bother with vanilla Firefox (ask TOR browser users what they think of Cloudflare..) is because of their very vocal and fanatical fanbase. Which is most likely similar to why they bothered reaching out to us last time. To manage appearances and quell the negative articles and bad rep. Sweet talk and promise never to do it again often enough, and we become too tired to argue (like an abused partner).frostknight wrote: ↑2026-04-10, 06:28I think its the latter myself given they tried to work with you guys in the pastownedbywuigi wrote: ↑2026-04-09, 13:57Either Cloudflare REALLY hates us or they’re just flat out oblivious at this point if this is the third time

They are all on Google's payroll or lazy as hell.
It's a good thing we have Mozilla at least, otherwise the internet would be all Google Chrome.
Web devs didn't care for Presto Engine Opera(best web browser ever made), why the fuck would they care about Palemoon?
We're lucky we're still hanging on tbh, and a lot of that has to do with Mozilla still being a presence.

What was so much better about Presto compared to other engines? (I was too young to use it when it was still relevant). Was it speed, memory efficiency, or another thing?

Re: CloudFlare discussion thread
I think what is also true is, many linux distros have linux Firefox as the installed by default browser in their distros. Mint, MX Linux and Debian are just three examples which have Firefox as their installed by default browser.
Which means Mozilla has a lot of very vocal users who like linux Firefox and prefer it over linux Chrome. These Firefox uses are not afraid to let Mozilla know about it in their combined "loud" tone of voice.

Old Opera was a total internet suite(even had built-in IRC client), it was consistently the most innovative browser
Many of the functionalities you have nowadays were first on Opera(and plenty missing since then)
Old Firefox with a bunch of add-ons still didn't have the full functionality of Presto Opera
Not only that but Opera was the best browser at adhering to the W3C standards, so much so that there used to be a saying ''If it doesn't work on Opera, it's a webdev problem''
Of course the web back then was also far more efficient but you could literally load 50 tabs on Opera on a 512MB RAM machine and it would do it without chugging
Even for back then it was crazy efficient and very light in size
Google killed the web later on and it's all history from there

Re: CloudFlare discussion thread
I remember settling on Opera as my preferred browser in the Presto days, after a period of experimentation. Opera Turbo amazed me, for my home internet was rather slower than the early 2010s average and it made the net accessible again. I remember wondering to myself back then why Turbo-like features were not standard for all browsers.

Cloudflare is now confirmed working on UXP again (Basilisk and Dactyloidae). See you all in like 2 months time when Cloudflare breaks something again.

Sad to say you might be correct. Past history for the last 12 months suggests it is the nature of the beast (Cloudflare) to be disruptive..ownedbywuigi wrote: ↑2026-04-11, 06:08Cloudflare is now confirmed working on UXP again (Basilisk and Dactyloidae). Re: CloudFlare discussion thread
I am only half joking when I suggest we put up a sign somewhere on this website that it has been n days since our last Cloudflare problem, or at least a traffic light noting whether Cloudflare is presently working or broken for us.

Re: CloudFlare discussion thread
It kept failing on winqhq.org just now, the weird part?
a different winehq domain worked instead that had cloudflare.
Very peculiar...

Traffic light idea would actually be quite useful if this cat-and-mouse game continues with us and Cloudflare.

Not peculiar at all. They just have CF set for different levels of fuckery on each of their [sub?]domains (possibly by accident).frostknight wrote: ↑2026-04-12, 00:24It kept failing on winqhq.org just now, the weird part?
