Banks, etc...
How do we stop banks from disallowing the use of palemoon? is there a way to spoof the user agent into something else? I'm tired o 'google' and chase, and etc. from telling me to use chrome (or edge...)
Thanks -
PS I did search a bit before asking - so sorry if this has been answered before, I just didn't find it.

Re: Banks, etc...
For starters, provide the URL of the bank in question

Code: Select all
general.useragent.override.bing.com

That's of no use if you don't tell him what kind of override to enter as the value.Pentium4User wrote: ↑2025-01-19, 06:30Use values like that in about:config.Code: Select all

Well that's not p4u's fault, is it? OP should have provided enough information.moonbat wrote: ↑2025-01-19, 10:09That's of no use if you don't tell him what kind of override to enter as the value.Pentium4User wrote: ↑2025-01-19, 06:30Use values like that in about:config.Code: Select all

Not being a coder, not sure what info you need - but try https://www.chase.com and you'll get the message at https://www.citi.com too.
I think Citi still allows the login, with the nag message - Chase will not.

Re: Banks, etc...
Try for "chase":
general.useragent.override.chase.com
Value:
Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:102.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/132.0
132.0
It is not showing the nag message anymore but i did not log in. (I have no account)
Try it for other sites and tell us.
BTW, I changed
general.useragent.compatMode.version to "132.0"
just to see what happens.

Re: Banks, etc...
Ok - tried this - both settings.
On chase it lets me get to the login, but follows up with an overlay message that says "this part of our site ins not working now - try later or use chase mobile app".
I don't know what other info to supply? maybe a screen capture video of this would help somehow? But somehow they 'know' and are actively breaking the ability to use this browser for bank activity.

Try
general.useragent.override.chase.com
Value:
Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:124.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/132.0
I saw the login/error, does not look like an overlay. Just a redirection.
Yet, I don't have an account there.
Changing to the value above, the /error didn't show.
Just the login again with the "We can't find that username and password. Try again."

Re: Banks, etc...
DO I need to restart palemoon when I edit about config?
Re: Banks, etc...
Not for a user-agent override.

Re: Banks, etc...
In any case this didn't seem to work. *sigh*. Even cleared cookies for the bank...
