Seems like the bridge requires you to follow the @ap.brid.gy account in the bsky side to make it two-way.
After doing this, is it now working better?

I can see you from my personal Misskey server and a mastodon.social account , but not from any of my Pleroma/Akkoma accounts yet.. I guess I have to wait for the cache of my searches in Akkoma to expire. :coffee:

Let me know once you've settled in properly and have a post or 2 up on both, and I'll link to mastodon and bluesky from the website. :)
Thanks again for taking up the torch for this!

Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to move the fediverse account to techhub.social, which is a Mastodon... :( You probably should be following the new account already from the fediverse side since I did the account migration process, but if not, this is the new handle: @palemoon@techhub.social.

The Bluesky handle has also been changed. However it seems like the bridging is broken. I never saw any posts getting bridged to there, and the old handle is still not yet deleted despite following the instructions on how to do so...

Apologies for the disruption!

Welp, I finally got my account request in the Akkoma server outerheaven.club approved; just took like 29 hours which is way over the 24 hours I've been given in the previous instance before they locked it out... I thought they're not gonna approve it, but I guess I'm going to move again! :P (I will still keep the Mastodon around just for backup)

New handle, hopefully for the final time: @palemoon@outerheaven.club (I suppose one of the things you can find in an "Outer Heaven" is a "Pale Moon")

(And Bluesky too: https://bsky.app/profile/palemoon.outer ... ap.brid.gy)

Some replies have been removed here. Please tone down on the political rhetoric. Everyone needs to take a breather.

Did I say something wrong, I don't see my post?

In any case, if I said too much, I apologize.

I just wanted to know isn't mastodon no different then social media in general?

I was curious about your response to that regarding echo chambers.

Merely, them all having similar problems due to people wanting to have themselves validated, etc...

Is that any better as a reply? Let me know

There's a fundamental difference. single-entity social media (Twitter/X, Facebook, etc.) at least give the user the control which content they have access to and want to see (discussions about recommendation algorithms aside). The Fediverse/Mastodon takes a large portion of that out of the user's hands and puts that into the bubble server operator's hands, because the "federation" is generally limited to what the operator decides to link their bubble server to. At least that is how I understood it. So it's actually failing in the "federation" part if everyone clamps down on what is allowed through the exchanges.

Seems the sort of people who moved off Twitter to the Fediverse are the sort who only want their own isolated echo chamber, connecting to the larger network of other servers was never their priority :coffee:

To be fair, twitter, facebook and similar, have monetary stake in the game and steer people deliberately towards certain topics. More engagement means people see more ads and more data collection.

So I am not sure I agree there.

Well that''s fair, you don't use it so maybe that is why you see it that way.

Me using it and having used it I do see some echo chamber, but I doubt twitter is any better, I have heard really bad things about it even before elon took over.

Actually, I recall seeing a thread that was mega toxic on twitter regarding a situation I would rather not speak of. If I told you, I would never be able to shut up xD.

Although, I don't know if you count youtube comments as a social media, but I have seen much toxicity there in my own experience.

This part I will give you props to. Yes, they do restrict certain speech probably more than facebook. Twitter however, probably less but it depends on topic and each individual case.

Well, I think it's a more general issue, taking a step back.
Regardless of specific medium, there's something about engaging with people online that kind of brings out the worst in people. This digital era that we live in right now (which was further exacerbated by the covid-19 pandemic which has kept everybody in their homes) and everybody's online now has really just kind of made people treat each other worse. When you're with someone, you know, face to face/in person, it's just different.
I think that, psychologically, not having immediate visual feedback from the other person sets people up for a lot more extreme reasoning, thoughts and actions, especially if there's the additional layer of protection from consequence through assumed/pseudo-anonymity.
Segregation is bad off-line, but it seems to be much worse stacked on this on-line presence/communication problem.

All that aside though, I've stopped using Facebook, and Twitter/X is just a barely-touched account I'm keeping to prevent hijacking from historical tags/links. The Fediverse seems to be more of a drama hook I don't want to impose on the community or the project here, so I'm fine if we just let it be. If we're not welcome, then we'll just stay away, right? If any social media comes with a ton of that kind of baggage (over a piece of software...!) then just don't get involved, is my opinion.
People can still find us. If they want to converse, we have the forum that isn't going anywhere. It'll just have to be enough.

Yeah, like I said, social media very often causes people to seek validation from people on it. That's not a good way to do things. Its better to self-validate to the point of having confidence. Not pride, but good healthy confidence knowing who you really are as a person is good.

Know what you are and what you aren't. That is a risk social media gets in the way of
