State of the project

Unread post by EchedeyLR » 2022-09-11, 18:05

Good afternoon from Spain,

I am a newbie in this forum in the participation sense, but I have used it a lot to research issues regarding to Pale Moon, Basilisk and other UXP-based applications back in time and nowadays.

Focusing myself in this board, I have trying to find a proper IRCv3-compatible IRC client, and given my will to support UXP-based applications and that I saw it listed in https://ircv3.net/software/clients, I got some interest.

I checked that the development seemed to have stopped around 2020 as for https://github.com/ascrod/ambassador/ and https://repo.palemoon.org/Ascrod/ambassador/, but the project is still listed in the previous list as well as http://thereisonlyxul.org.

Given that and that as for Pale Moon, main development use to happen in UXP repository, I wanted to know if the development of Ambassador has stopped or it is continued just in UXP side and the frontend side is feature complete already.

Unfortunately, Ambassador is in limbo at the moment. In May of 2021, the developer (Ascrod/Isengrim) announced that they would no longer be able to be involved in development or support of any UXP-related projects. To my knowledge, no one has stepped up to take over development or support of Ambassador since then.

Thank you for linking me to their post about the state of the project and the additional information, as well as the quick reply.

It is a bit sad to be exact. I hope either me or another person gets involved into the project for continuing it.
