Same problem with difference that it no longer hangs in UXP like it did in Tycho at that point but like I said back in original report Firefox 47 solution is not ideal as scrolling is not smooth if you choose ctrl + a selection with lot of text and then scroll page.

This is performance regression from new platform. Moonchild maybe you could solve it like you did in Tycho.

The problem is that it's one or the other. Either the selection is visually correct and performance takes a hit, or performance is better but the visual selection is completely wrong -- you can't have the cake and eat it too in this case.
