Basilisk compatiblility issues

Post by nrev0674 » 2026-02-13, 17:13

Basilisk isn't compatible with many websites. Pale Moon isn't compatible at all. "Making sure you're not a bot" is the only Pale Moon page that comes up. [I had to use Firefox to get here.]
Other websites just block most images.

This is something that will effect all users.

Hello, we would be happy to help you out here but we need more information than you are providing.

Please see this link for information on what info you need to provide to receive proper help: https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=32191

I'd also like to address your individual points in your message below.

Basilisk and Pale Moon both work for the majority of sites I use. There are absolutely some sites that don't work in our browsers, I won't argue that, but there are many more sites that do work.

Not sure what the issue is here. I am responding to you from Basilisk with images on the page rendering properly.

I am literally using Basilisk right now and am not affected by this so it is not affecting all users.

Are you using a VPN by any chance?

Looks like a hit and run or generic rant post given how there's zero details. Best wait for OP to respond to the usual questions Basilisk-dev put forward instead of wasting time guessing or playing 20 questions.

Not using a VPN.

Images on many websites simply will not show up.

And as for Pale Moon forum: The "making sure you're not a bot" page is the only thing that comes up.

The instructions for support claim to post in the Basilisk section of Palm Moon forum. This is that section. [I can't even post a picture here so that I can show you.]

I just want things to work, and they don't.

I'm using version 2022.01.27, and now I find the "Basilisk is no longer supported or updated" in "About Basilisk".

I don't know how you are able to view it from Basilisk, but I can't.

Not a rant. I'm asking for help getting Basilisk to work.

Please install the latest version of Basilisk from https://basilisk-browser.org/
The version you are using is (as you may have guessed) 4 years out of date. A lot has changed since then, especially since the browser has been taken over by its own independent developer.
Running a very old version will not have many features required for web compatibility in 2026.

While you're at it, also check the version of your Pale Moon browser and update as-necessary.

I downloaded. Now, I lost everything from the old version. And trying to open the old version just brings up the new version.

I'm looking in "%APPDATA%\Moonchild Productions\Basilisk" "%APPDATA%\Basilisk-Dev\Basilisk", but all I'm seeing is empty new profile. I don't know where to look for old profile information.

Everything seems to work now.

Making a backup of Profiles on both in case I messed up was difficult with the "file path too long" issue.

Thank you.
