Basilisk 2025.01.04 Released!

Unread post by Basilisk-Dev » 2025-01-03, 16:44

Basilisk 2025.01.04 has been released!

This release uses the same UXP platform version as Pale Moon 33.5.0. The UXP commit hash is b3b852b877.

Please see the downloads page for more information on how to download source code archives.

FreeBSD and macOS builds will be provided as soon as they are available.

FreeBSD and macOS builds are now available.

The autoupdate service does not currently support FreeBSD and macOS builds so a manual update is required on these operating systems.

See the release notes for more information.

See the downloads page to download the update.

A happy new year @Basilisk-Dev and everyone!
Afaics this new release runs nicely on any of my (20+) preferred sites (on Linux x64 GTK-2) - just like the last ;).
Thank you! I'll check the windows build tomorrow...

..

I downloaded the executable for v2025.01.04 & I manually updated from it using WINRAR.

It worked perfectly, & as expected, it's been working beautifully Image on every site so far!

Many thanks!!! Image

Well, i indeed found a glitch with this new release, concerning both, windows and linux versions (x64):

On https://www.telepolis.de/ (german news site) the text font has changed to a thin & poor one,
in fact in comparison to the 2024.10 version (i did omit the 2024.11 version lazyly ;) ).

Many thanks in advance for checking this!

Edit: if i turn off js on the site (eg. by installing noscript-addon :geek: ) the known and familiar font returns back!

Edit 2: i got release 2024.11 from the archives: it was not yet concerned with this little issue.

Well, I found a solution that works for Telepolis.de and Pale Moon 33.5.0. :)

In Pale Moon's preferences I unchecked "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
Can't find that option in Basilisk but it's probably somewhere.

Preferences → Content → Fonts & Colors → Advanced…

Not sure if you are still not getting the notices when I post stuff, but the Mac and FreeBSD builds were posted yesterday. :)

I haven't been getting email notifications from the repo for a while now for some reason. I just uploaded them. Thanks for letting me know here

Many thanks @Shadow and @gabrgv.
But that would mean that the "Allow pages to choose their own fonts" option wouldn't have been working for many years!?
And Firefox 112 eg. does also render with a ,normal' font (like when i forbid JS on the page).
Unfortunately i'm not able to proove if that sparse font is realy the font of telepolis.de

Excellent.... did not think about that preference, but it works beautifully. Much thanks.

If you 've got uBO: it's possible with it to block remote fonts for specic sites. Worked for me on telepolis.de.

As always excellent. This browser, along with FIreFox Portable and the inevitable MS Edge are all I ever need. Much thanks.
