Basilisk 2023.03.04 has been released!
This release uses the same UXP platform version as Pale Moon 32.0.1.
See the release notes for more information.
See the downloads page to download the update.
Note: There were issues with the compilation flags in the initial Windows builds. I've uploaded the download links Basilisk site to use these new builds. These builds can be found here on the archive server. These builds will report their version as 2023.03.05, but the code is the same as 2023.03.04.

Re: Basilisk 2023.03.04 Released!
Got this dialog prompt for the new update:
Is this OK? - before I update, I just want to make sure there's no problem with the update considering the "0"'s that get displayed (where I'd assume the version would typically display).... (... looks a bit odd).Current Pale Moon(x86) Release | WIN10 | I5 CPU, 1.7 GHz, 6GB RAM, 500GB HD[20GB SSD]

I think that the buildID has a mismatch between the repo's package and the website's one. That's probably why after installing the new package we still get an update prompt.

Yes, you are safe to move forward with updating.Pallid Planetoid wrote: ↑2023-03-05, 15:57Is this OK? - before I update, I just want to make sure there's no problem with the update considering the "0"'s that get displayed (where I'd assume the version would typically display).... The autoupdate server randomly started telling Windows clients that the next Basilisk version is 0 a few releases back. I haven't had the time to figure out what causes this but when you perform the update it will actually update to the correct version.
The weird part of this is that it does not seem to affect Linux clients, only Windows clients seem to be affected here.

Based on the post just prior to yours:
Could this be contributing to the problem? -- regardless of the problem, once the cause is determined and fixed then the superfluous update prompts would presumably stop?Wastelander wrote: ↑2023-03-05, 18:58I think that the buildID has a mismatch between the repo's package and the website's one. Re: Basilisk 2023.03.04 Released!
No, for Basilisk the Build ID is just the timestamp which the application was compiled. Build ID between any two builds of Basilisk will never match unless they were compiled at the exact same time, down to the second.Pallid Planetoid wrote: ↑2023-03-05, 21:06Could this be contributing to the problem? -- regardless of the problem, once the cause is determined and fixed then the superfluous update prompts would presumably stop?
I figured out the issue regarding the update server serving version 0. The way Basilisk versioning works internally is that the version is in the format of 52.9.date Basilisk was compiled. The 52.9 is there for Firefox addon compatibility.
For Basilisk to use this version number scheme there is a compilation flag that has to be set. I had to rebuild my Windows build environment recently and when I did I forgot to set that flag in my mozconfig. If you do not set that flag, then internally Basilisk's version will be 52.9.0
The auto update server looks at everything after the 52.9., so in this case it thinks that the Windows version is 0.
To fix this I will need to recompile the Windows builds of Basilisk with the appropriate build flag set. I will do this soon.

The autoupdate issues for Windows should now be resolved. I've compiled new builds and updated the site and update service to use these new builds. The version will be reported as 2023.03.05 on these builds.
Thanks!
