Adobe Flash Embed function freezes Basilisk browser

Unread post by JesuChristo » 2021-03-15, 22:28

So as the internet is well aware, Adobe Flash was given the kill switch at the beginning of this year. Now it is unusable without workarounds, one of which is the Basilisk browser. It still utilizes a version of flash without the killswitch so users could still play flash movies/games. Unfortunately however, there has been a recent "bug" I don't know how to explain that prevents this ease of access.

Basically whenever the option to embed a flash file is selected, the embed box appears but is white, and then the whole Basilisk browser freezes. This can be waited out after thirty seconds, but it results in the embed never occurring, and the white box staying on screen. You can still click a flash file link and it will open in a new tab and play, but this does not happen when embedding. I am unsure as to why this happens, i don't use any plugins or have modified the browser in any way, so I am led to believe this was an issue from an update? I guess i'm looking to either report this as a bug (in which case i apologize if i put this in the wrong forum/place) or see if anyone has a solution?

Any and all help/feedback would be much appreciated. I'm a big fan of this project now and want to see it continue to thrive!

All versions Adobe Flash Player newer than 32.0.0.371 contain a time-bomb.
After 12-Jan-2021 local SWF-files does not playback. The latest working version is 32.0.0.371.

32.0.0.371:

Also you can try previous versions.

So the thing is the plugin running and the version i have installed is 32.0.0.371, so I don't think it has to do with the version of flash. This worked before, and flash files still run in the browser, they just don't embed. They used to, but for some reason now cause the browser to freeze when trying to embed.
