New to Basilisk, looking for dark themes, or any themes for that matter

Post by tesnax » 2019-08-03, 04:34

I can't use FF due to lack of legacy extension support. Waterfox slows up after a few minutes. I came across Basilisk and it seems to check most boxes for me, except I can't seem to find any compatible themes that work on it.

I prefer dark themes as they're easier on the eyes. Is there a way to obtain themes of such nature for Basilisk?

You might be able to find some themes in the classic addons archive.

Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon (64-bit), Windows 7 (64-bit), Windows 10 build 1803 (64-bit)

AFAIK neither Classic Add-ons Archive nor the Legacy Collector site have themes. They are purely extensions.

The first link doesn't work and are not compatible with Basilisk. Second is seemingly the only compatible theme for Basilisk and not my style. Thank you however.

Not a theme unfortunately, and doesn't do anything on Basilisk

Which OS are you using?
Changing the OS theme can change the browser theme also.
Xenial puppy linux 32-bit.
Tahrpup 6.0.5.32 bit.
Pale moon 28.8.1.

It darkens the window decorator (see 1, 2).

Looking at the screenshots, it looks like what they mean by the window decorator is really the title bar? :?:

Not totally sure, but from the screenshots (and a little searching), probably yes, or things on the title bar, like the close buttons.

Those 360+ results you get when you search the word "theme" aren't themes, certainly not complete themes.

They are extensions with the string "theme" somewhere in the title. Some are extensions related to managing themes etc, some are designed to change the appearance of specific web pages (not the appearance of the browser).

And a large number are the unsavory BrandThunder personas that the author had uploaded to AMO as extensions. (For background, see Mozillazine forums posts about BrandThunder, for example 1, 2.)
