Basilisk startup connections

Post by Tomaso » 2019-02-12, 20:35

Unlike Pale Moon, Basilisk tries to connect to CloudFlare and Amazon Web Services at startup.
What's causing this, and how do I prevent it from happening?

Do you have any add-ons installed that would be trying to communicate with these sites? Have you tried starting in Safe Mode to verify if it is indeed an add-on?

It's not caused by an add-on.
It happens with a fresh install.

This type of behaviour is not unusual though.
Chromium browsers also connects to things like CloudFlare and MCAST at startup, and if you're using Google Chrome, it probably connects to a whole lot more!
However, since Pale Moon doesn't behave like this, why does Basilisk?
Perhaps the code needs a bit more cleaning up.

If you run Basilisk, you can expect it to connect to a bunch of Mozilla-hosted/CDNed sites on startup. It's inevitable due to the Mozilla services connected to.
