dark mode for basilisk.

dark mode for basilisk.
dark mode extension will not install in basilisk and get a corrupted error however it installed before.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... extension/
Can anyone suggest an extension similar which works because white screens on a website annoy me very much and like the dark effect.

Re: dark mode for basilisk.
This will not be solved in the browser side. Quit making decisions for me, GMForker.
WebExtensions MUST have an extension ID if they are going to be compatible with UXP. It takes little effort on the extension dev's side to do so and saves us an architectural nightmare.
The extension dev can solve this by adding an ID.

Re: dark mode for basilisk.
When i initially installed the first version of basilisk the forementioned extension installed with no issues, then because of a knackered profile i had to reinstall basilisk and now dark mode comes up with this corrupted stuff.Something must have changed in between and i dont know what it is.I cannot use it until i have a dark mode extension of some description installed.

This change between moebius and UXP is surprising.Moonchild wrote:Quit making decisions for me, GMForker.
But it's not my thing. Of course. I'm sorry.
Re: dark mode for basilisk.
Maybe you can hack the extension to include an ID, should be simple enough. But you have to be aware of licensing implications, if any.Moonraker wrote:When i initially installed the first version of basilisk the forementioned extension installed with no issues, then because of a knackered profile i had to reinstall basilisk and now dark mode comes up with this corrupted stuff.Something must have changed in between and i dont know what it is.I cannot use it until i have a dark mode extension of some description installed.

It's one of the few design choices that are different in Take2; we want to do things a little bit more organized and put down some ground rules to prevent as much of a mess as mozilla has let the add-on scene turn into with its muddle of 4 technologies each with their own exceptions to established design.
I apologize, myself -- I didn't mean to snap at you; I thought you were part of the discussion that was held about this (or at least informed about it), but maybe you weren't.GMforker wrote:But it's not my thing. Of course. I'm sorry.

Re: dark mode for basilisk.
I think a working dark mode extension would be welcomed by most users.

And yes, I did not have this information (but also... I did this of my own decision).
OK, thank you. Now it's clearer for me.Moonchild wrote:I thought you were part of the discussion that was held about this (or at least informed about it), but maybe you weren't.

Re: dark mode for basilisk.
You can try this (I can vouch for it, works just fine in Basilisk):Moonraker wrote:I think a working dark mode extension would be welcomed by most users.
The rest of the discussion can be found here.JustOff wrote:Save 0.5.11 xpi, rename it to zip, extract, open file lib\ui\sdk-togglebutton-with-panel.js and changeLatitude wrote:A tutorial to hack that extension so I could use version 0.5.11?

if (versionInRange(platformVersion, '30', '9999'))
Delete META-INF folder, zip all files back, rename to xpi.Code: Select all
//if (versionInRange(platformVersion, '30', '9999'))
If you need any extra help with it, feel free to PM me.
Obviously, I would prefer to use something properly supported, like JustOff's fork, Advanced Night Mode for Pale Moon, but I guess that will have to wait for a proper Basilisk Add-ons section/site.
Re: dark mode for basilisk.
Thanks but that seems too much hassle,Is there ANY known working dark mode extension for basilsik at all please?.I really like this browser but without a dark mode extension it will be irritating as hell.

Re: dark mode for basilisk.
I'm not sure if this will help you or not, but I have real issues with high contrast "black text on white backgrounds"
and because of that I use this add on "Color That Site! 0.16.1-signed" and it allows me to change web pages
and even the whole domain if I want it to.
Take this site before. And after. Or even this. You can change just about any part of a web site with it.
But it does take a minute to change those settings but one done, it will remember
those settings for that site, page or domain.
I like it because it's so flexible and it does work in Basilisk as I just tested it.
It is not able to do this as a blanket fix as it must examine the page before editing.
But honestly, I could not use the web without it.
Just a thought.
