The Good 'ol Sidebar & FoxClocks

Unread post by 1210_bex » 2018-05-13, 04:57

My operating system is Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) SP1. I run both The Good 'ol Sidebar & FoxClocks on Pale Moon (27+) and Firefox 42 without any problem.

I recently installed Basilisk [2018.04.27 (64 bit) portable], on my USB stick. Neither of these two programs are compatible with Basilisk.

However the predecessor to The Good 'ol Sidebar, All-in-One Sidebar, works just fine. It is no longer supported, but you can get Version 0.7.31.1 here: http://firefox.exxile.net/aios/end_of_development.php.

FoxClocks provides times for selected cities all over the world, Unfortunately, I cannot find an alternative for it. Does anyone know of one, and if so, will it run in Basilisk?

WorldClocks is much better and runs in the Windows Task Bar. It is installed in the OS and not dependent on browser. Also, it is not limited to 2 or 3 time zones. You can add as many and whichever ones you want, even customise your own. But you need to pay a licence fee... well worth it.

Not sure what you mean by "an alternative for it." As apposed to what? The latest version? A WebExtension version? How about an older version: Version 3.4.14.1-signed? Whether it works with Basilisk or not, I don't know.

Edit:
And of course there is Pale Moon - Add-ons - FoxClocks. These are both originally Pale Moon or Firefox compatible.

The Good 'ol Sidebar doesn't support Basilisk yet (primarily because I ripped off CustomizableUI) but it will be supported in the future once I get the time to do so.

If you would want to test a Basilisk-compatible version, check this: https://github.com/FranklinDM/TGS/issue ... -388605972
But take note, some features are broken since it is based on an older version of TGS.

Version 3.4.14.1-signed does NOT work. That is what I tried before I created this post. Also, if you go to the FoxClocks Home page, and try to install 4.3.2 from there, Basilisk gives an error message which says it is not compatible with Basilisk.

However, if you just open this Pale Moon page: https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/foxclocks/
in Basilisk and install from there, FoxClocks 4.3.2 works just fine.

Thanks for that suggestion, and this problem is solved.

Thanks for your dedication. I think I will pass on trying your test version, since I have enough other problems with Basilisk.

But please post here whenever you have a final version, and I will install it.
