Is a rudimental/primitive ,night-mode' possible?

Unread post by Mark-PM » 2025-01-27, 13:21

Pre: i'm not interested in any kind of theme at all - Only two things:

1) A simple, complete ,XOR-ing' of the canvas-area (exception: not the graphics or pictures!) - like it seems to be realized in this case (Vivaldi browser?) which i stumbled across incidentally: original site: https://www.q4os.org/ - and the ,manipilation' in this video:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=p3LZYkFt_mg

2) The background colour of a newly opened tab should be dark (like the background which is used, when only a smaller (eg. local) picture-file is rendered).

Thank you!

The Swarth add-on should do what you need: https://addons.basilisk-browser.org/addon/swarth/

It actually does it - Many thanks!

Edit: well, not 100% perfectly, eg. on this site: viewforum.php?f=61 all leading icons of the rows disappear - but i don't want to bleat at all :)

Along with Swarth, the Stylem extension can be of help. But you will need to find specific website userstyles. Several resources available.

https://addons.basilisk-browser.org/addon/stylem/
https://userstyles.world/
https://uso.kkx.one/ (UserStyles.org Archive - before that website became a Chrome-only horror).

Many thanks @back2themoon, maybe i'll try Stylem later, as Swarth fits my nees for the moment. If a site insists on beeing white or purble i simply set it to 'retain page style' an don't care further ;)

You can also automate the dark mode switch from sunset to sunrise with Autopagecolor, if you set Swarth to 'follow system scheme' with this extension enabled.
"One hosts to look them up, one DNS to find them and in the darkness BIND them."
