New Unofficial Branding

Post by Basilisk-Dev » 2024-07-03, 22:20

I've changed the unofficial branding for the browser. The name has been changed from "Serpent" to "Snake". I chose this name because I couldn't think of another word for snake :)

This was done because the fork of Basilisk that roytam1 builds for Windows XP is called "Serpent". I didn't like the fact that he was using my unofficial branding/name as the name and branding of his fork so I changed it to further distance Basilisk from his Serpent browser.

I've also attached a copy of the new unofficial branding logo:

The new logo is well-designed and is very appealing.

Tbh I'd keep it as "Snake" just so it's pretty clear that it's an unofficial branding :P

Just saw your reply, yes it does.
Off-topic:
Btw, unrelated in so many ways but, I just noticed your avatar. Laurel and Hardy lol.

That's so ancient.

I only know about it because I watched a tv show called the "The New Scooby Doo Movies" Which became old around 77, I was born in 80s. But anywho, that stuff resurfaced on tv till the 2000s even on regular cartoon network.

But anywho, I wouldve whispered this to you, but no option existed when I looked to try.

In the meantime Roytam1 proceeds with casually applying all upstream changes in Basilisk to his code :coffee:
He builds the browser, no issues on Windows XP, great.
Roytam1 (not knowing the context) notices that the logo has changed, kinda weird but whatever, it's never been about the branding after all, it's all about the code anyway
Weekly browser binaries get published

We'll see how it goes :D

So if he applies all patches it'll include the branding, and changing the branding will therefore be pointless because his browser will become "snake" too. :P

Well, who knows, maybe his users will get annoyed so much that it's no longer called Serpent that he actually bothers to touch branding this time to keep it :P

Oh you mean similar to us making unofficial branding the overly bland "Browser" by "somebody"? :D
