status-4-evar and latest basilisk

Post by thosrtanner » 2020-01-12, 17:46

it still seems to work, but I got this when restarting basilisk after the latest update:

Code: Select all

CustomizableUI:"TypeError: this._window.XULBrowserWindow.unwatch is not a function -- resource://status4evar/Status.jsm:143"
CustomizableUI.jsm:2081
Is there a palemoon/basilisk fork?

I don't think so. Pale Moon never needed it and the Firefox one worked as-is until this release.

You can make one, license permitting.

Indeed it doesn't work 100% as it should since the yesterday's update.

Line style setting in its options in Progress->Location bar isn't respected after you start the browser. If you set it to something else, then back to the one you like, it seems to work.

Is this related to those debugging functions that were removed?

Why aren't you all talking to Aris about extension support via his github repo?

A similar problem was already discussed here, and ended with the creation of a fork, which should also be suitable for Basilisk.
Here are the add-ons I made in a spare time. That was fun!

Thanks, this one works, but before you can install it, you must open the .xpi file with 7-Zip or similar and modify the file install.rdf with a text editor. Look for the following part at the end of the file:

Code: Select all

<em:minVersion>56.0</em:minVersion>
Change it to:

Code: Select all

<em:minVersion>52.0</em:minVersion>
Put the modified file back in the .xpi, then it should install without complaints. Until someone publishes the version that work out-of-the-box with both browsers.

Perhaps because Aris has nothing to do with this, and SparkyBluefang has already refused to deal with this issue?

Oh.. hell.. You are absolutely right. Man guess I'm the asshole this time! (as opposed to every other time). I seem to have a habit of mixing CTR and S4E in my head because they do work hand-in-hand to do a thing.

Yeah, uhh, well.. Shit. We have the code for the statusbar in Pale Moon.. But that may not be updated enough for level 52 Firefox UI. Guys, do your local hacks for the time being and I'll look into what can be done. k? Give me a few weeks cause there is other stuff on the go and S4E requires a working Mozilla build system and codebase because of the xpcom component.

Likely, produce something someone else can take over with instructions on how to build it properly.

In fact, as mentioned above, there is already one. If I were a Basilisk user, I would just ask hawkeye116477 to lower the minimum version in the manifest and that's it.

No worries, I make such mistakes all the time.
