Download of last versions of Official FossaMail 38.2.0

Unread post by bojan » 2017-05-22, 07:25

Hi everyone on the forum,

I know that FossaMail project is shut down, and the lead developer announced that there will be no more development, and new versions, I and am OK with that. But can I humble ask is there posibility to download latest version 38.2.0 of instalation files both for x86 and x64, and both for Windows and for Linux ?

I am a new user to Linux, and old school IT Win admin, and I got a huge respect to best programers, who do good optimization to their code, which FossaMail is, so I need to download links for those files:

FossaMail-38.2.0.linux-i686.tar.bz2
FossaMail-38.2.0.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2
FossaMail-38.2.0.win32.installer.exe
FossaMail-38.2.0.win32.zip
FossaMail-38.2.0.win64.installer.exe
FossaMail-38.2.0.win64.zip

Hey hackerman1, Thank You in a million ! :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:

Edit: unfortunately every archive I downloaded is corrupt, tested on two different computers, with two different OS-es, and downloaded on two different ISP-s :cry: :cry: :cry:

There is someting wrong with this downloads for sure, I confirmed it with Windows x64 version.
Copy from MajorGeeks is the same in size (in a bit), but different file hashes compared to Pale Moon FTP version:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/fossamail_64_bit.html

also when I run Pale Moon FTP copy, installer throws an error: "File is corrupt", and MajorGeeks copy normaly installs.

Then tell Moonchild about it, so he can check.

I just tried 38.2.0 win-installer.exe, both 32 and 64-bit, which i downloaded a few days ago, and i also get "File is corrupt".
And i just downloaded the zip-versions, they can´t be unpacked, so there is something wrong....

38.1.0 and the "private build" 38.3.0.a1, win-installer.exe, seems to be OK though, both 32 & 64-bit.

FossaMail 38.2.0 win-installer.exe, both 32 and 64-bit, are OK now.
I just downloaded, and installed both for testing.
No errormessages...

I've re-uploaded the binaries, they should all check out now. Not sure why they were incorrect, possibly the crappy transatlantic traffic I've had to deal with lately. My ISP sucks more every month.

Hi Moonchild,
thank You for the re-upload all the binaries, now every binary is OK, except the Linux binaries, 32 bit and 64 bit, the ones I was looking in the first place :cry: :cry:
Again I tried downloading with two different machines, OS's, ISP's, tried with Firefox, FileZilla FTP client, and finally with wget:

Code: Select all

wget ftp://archive:get@ftp2.palemoon.org/FossaMail/38.x/38.2.0/FossaMail-38.2.0.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2
--2017-05-22 21:42:01--  ftp://archive:*password*@ftp2.palemoon.org/FossaMail/38.x/38.2.0/FossaMail-38.2.0.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2
           => ‘FossaMail-38.2.0.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2’
Resolving ftp2.palemoon.org (ftp2.palemoon.org)... 198.98.51.56
Connecting to ftp2.palemoon.org (ftp2.palemoon.org)|198.98.51.56|:21... connected.
Logging in as archive ... Logged in!
==> SYST ... done.    ==> PWD ... done.
==> TYPE I ... done.  ==> CWD (1) /FossaMail/38.x/38.2.0 ... done.
==> SIZE FossaMail-38.2.0.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2 ... 44484420

FossaMail-38.2.0.li 100%[===================>]  42,42M   418KB/s    in 2m 48s
then I imported the PGP public key 0xC65285EC.asc with wich the binary is signed, and verifed it with gpg, and it failed:

Code: Select all

gpg --output FossaMail-38.2.0.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2 --verify FossaMail-38.2.0.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2.sig
gpg: assuming signed data in `FossaMail-38.2.0.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2'
gpg: Signature made Uto 28 Ožu 2017 14:09:23 CEST using RSA key ID C65285EC
gpg: BAD signature from "trava90 <travawine@protonmail.com>"
The Windows images passes gpg verification.

I am sorry to bother You, but could You please check Linux images at Your machine, and try to re-upload them again ?

Sorry I didn't realize the Linux ones were bad. I'll re-upload those too.

Can we still use fossa mail? Is it safe to do so long term?
Not liking the direction Mozilla is going so thinking of the near future.
I'm using Pale Moon version 28.1.0 (64-bit) on Windows 10 Home 64-bit.

Because mail clients don't have nearly the attack surface web browsers do (e.g. JavaScript and live loading of remote documents), real risks are usually limited to known issues in e.g. image libraries used. There are currently no known major issues in such libraries in FossaMail 38.2 -- this may change in the future.
So it's fine to use FossaMail for a while yet -- and if you're interested, you can use the unofficial builds I still make for personal use, as well, which have more security updates in them.

Could anyone please share the last version of FossaMail x64 for Windows?
