Just a lowly user, with version 28.10.0 - 32-bit in Puppy Linux 7.5 (Xenial Xerus)

I read the comics online.
No problem with any of them in my list, until I get to Zits
http://www.arcamax.com/thefunnies/zits

It seems to load okay, if you ignore the status line, where it's it frantically connecting to a bunch of other pages, analytics?, trackers?, TLS handshaking, etc.

If I read fast and get out, no problem.
Wait a few seconds too long... *blink* the program shuts down.
Restart, usually auto-reloads the page until it crashes again.
Restart again 2nd time, usually complains about crashing, asks to close or restore.

Only seems to happen on Arcamax.
Luann, and Hagar the Horrible act the same 99% of the time.

Tried Firefox 72.0.2 32-bit for Linux.
Loads, stares at me for a while, then... "Gah. Your tab just crashed."
Oddly, if I reload the tab there, it doesn't always crash again, but DOES sometimes load and run one of those stupid pop-up video ads.

No problems loading the page because all that crap got blocked. In current year you really cannot surf the net without an adblocker, and also without knowing how to use its filtering system (not saying you don't).

The "frantic status" is a tell-tale sign of what is called RTB (real-time bidding). What happens there is that an ad space is auctioned to advertisers in real time, on page load.
Because many advertiser servers are contacted for their "bid" before an ad is served from the "winner" you're looking at a hell of a lot of server traffic for a page load. This also often includes dynamic addition and removal of scripts in an ad iframe which can lead to data races and crashes as a result. Remember when someone complained about palemoon.start.me contacting 160 different trackers on load? That was a brief time when start.me also employed RTB which was discontinued shortly after by request.
Arguably the theoretically "most optimized" way to deliver display ads, from an ad revenue perspective, it's technically a mess and not optimized at all.

Site loads for me without in less than a second from the link given which gave me a new tab. Then I waited for one minute and no crashing. Left clicked on both Hagar and Luann, read the strip and no problems with either of them. Waited for one minute on Luann and then went to Hagar. No crashing.

At this time, I'm using 64 bit linux Pale Moon 28.10.0 running in 64 bit linux Mint 20 (Ulyana) Xfce. The only adblocker extension I use is uBlock Origin 1.16.4.22 with UBO enabled for this site.

Amazingly, it didn't crash when I retested it (only once) today.
I did, however, have a screen recorder running at the same time, and here's a list of what went flashing by (I'm sure they'll be different tomorrow).

Just use any of the adblockers (pick one only) available on PM's addon site and update their filter subscriptions.
