Pale Moon 27.0.0b3 loops with foxnews.com
When I go to foxnews.com with Pale Moon 27.0.0b3, and scroll down the screen looking at the titles of the articles, Pale Moon eventually consumes the CPU - and ends up in a "Not Responding" condition.
I am running on a fresh install of Windows-7 Professional 32-Bit, with Pale Moon 27.0.0b3 installed with no addons or other modifications. I'm using a HD-3450 graphic card.
While I was testing, I had a thought it might need Adobe Flash Player, and I installed that - but it did not make any difference. I did notice that on the download page for Adobe Flash Player it did not identify Pale Moon as a "Firefox" type download (as opposed to IE or Chrome). But, that is a separate issue...
Foxnews.com does work properly on Pale Moon 26.5.0.
27.0.0b3 works okay with the other websites I've tried...

Re: Pale Moon 27.0.0b3 loops with foxnews.com
I'm running 32bit Pale Moon 27.0.0b3 and 32bit Windows 10, I just went to foxnews.com and it comes up with no problems... I can scroll up and down, the page comes up very fast, no lockups or pausing. Under Options, Advanced, General, I have compatiblity user agent mode set to: Gecko Compatiblity (default).
Maybe check and see if that helps if it's not set to it?

Re: Pale Moon 27.0.0b3 loops with foxnews.com
I have tried the User Agent Mode with Gecko Compatibility, Firefox Compatibility and Native, that makes no difference.
It happens every time I go into foxnews.com. So far that is the only website I've found that does this...
I do have the Windows Task Manager running, and as I scroll down the screen the CPU usage goes up - even though I am still able to scroll up and down the screen. If I exit out of Pale Moon, the "palemoon.exe" task is still running, using up all the CPU resources it can get.
Moonseeker, thanks for trying it. I'm not sure what kind of a Task Manager or Resource Monitor exists on Windows-10, if there is one you might try it with that running - to see if your CPU use increases.
I'm not sure what else I can do to help debug this, if anyone has some suggestions let me know...

Hmmm.... If I uncheck "Use hardware acceleration when available" the problem appears to go away...
I wonder if there is something with Pale Moon 27 that is more sensitive to the graphic card..

Please be so kind to go to help -> troubleshooting information, copy the info as text, and pasting it in a reply here.

I am also getting an app hang but only after I close the fox news tab.. When I force quit the application.. PluginContainer (even though I don't have any plugins active reports a crash in mozalloc.. So there there is something fox news is doing that isn't sitting well with Tycho.
Re: Pale Moon 27.0.0b3 loops with foxnews.com
Ok..... when I go to foxnews.com with task manager up, the CPU usage goes up from 2% to 87%, then when I scroll up and down the CPU usage goes up and down from anywhere from 3% to 85% and occasionally hits 95% to 97% but then jumps back down 80% and lower, and scrolling up and down this behavior stays the same. If I stop scrolling and let it sit doing nothing, it stabilizes just jumping from 2% to 3% cpu usage.
I have "Use hardware acceleration when available" checked (On).
Strange.... it's not giving me any problems, maybe it's something with certain graphic cards?
Are you running the latest graphics driver for your HD-3450 graphic card? Wonder if that would help,
or the best recommended stable version?
Have you tried turning "Use hardware acceleration when available" on and off and see if it makes any
difference?
I just checked with a friend running 64bit Pale Moon 27.0.0b3 and 64bit Windows 10 to go to foxnews.com
and that system isn't having any problem either, the CPU usage goes up and down too but never locks or
hangs ..... so it might be system specific?
Hopefully someone will have a suggestion that you can try and change to solve the problem. I'll ask a
couple of other people I know running Pale Moon 27.0.0b3 to see how foxnews.com works for them and if they
have a problem like yours, and if so... I'll try different settings and see if I can figure out what the problem
is, if possible.

I also get an app hang, but only after clicking a link on the Fox News main page. To get the hang I click a link on the main page, then click a link back to the main page, then another link on the main page, on so on until it hangs. I'm using Pale Moon portable x64 with a clean profile with default settings for testing, but it also does it on my test machine where it's installed.
I don't think it's related to HD Graphics because neither of my machines have that. They're both AMD.

I get ~10% kernel activity on that page, I think it's triggered when scrolling down to where it begins loading the 2nd set of links/articles. Hang details, in case they're useful:

Re: Pale Moon 27.0.0b3 loops with foxnews.com
I've checked the site and apart from loading content "on-demand" causing some additional CPU load when scrolling, there doesn't seem to be an issue in 27.0b3.
Your video driver is 3½ years old, and it may be an issue in the driver causing your problem. Pale Moon 27 uses DirectX 11 now (Pale Moon 26 doesn't), which will require an up-to-date video driver that supports current DX11 features properly. Please check if there is a more current video driver for your hardware available. If not, then you'll have to keep hardware acceleration disabled.

Re: Pale Moon 27.0.0b3 loops with foxnews.com
I've been able to reproduce the hang now, with a similar signature as satrow. It doesn't seem to be HWA related, actually.
The problem call seems to be nss3.dll!PR_WaitCondVar+0x156 -> this is an ssl call that apparently hangs up Pale Moon because the server either never responds after initiating a connection, or responds with completely bogus data that causes confusion. it seems to be directly related to fox news sending bogus data when it doesn't see a Firefox product slice.
Please switch the useragent mode to "Firefox compatibility" in Options -> Advanced (default is Gecko compatibility), and let us know if that prevents the hangs.

Looks like we're not alone in this. BMO is riddled with similar bug reports without a solution when searching for PR_WaitCondVar

Re: Pale Moon 27.0.0b3 loops with foxnews.com
I had 3 more friends try foxnews.com on their systems running Pale Moon 27.0.0b3 and none of them have any problems either, and no problems clicking on links, they all work fine, no hangs. Sounds like a strange problem but I haven't been able to reproduce it here. Hope it gets figured out for those having this problem. Good luck!!!

Moonseeker, I tried foxnews.com today to see if it was an anomaly with something they had on their webpage last week, and it didn't take long for it to start taking up the CPU and then the hang. I had to end it with taskmgr...
I'm installing Windows-7 64-bit on my test computer, I'll test 27.0.0b3 64-bit on it - and report back.
