sync does not accept any email

When i try to make a sync account in palemoon any email address i type in (and just to be sure i tried several, which for sure never ever were used for anything safe email!) is not accepted by an email is already in use.

What's going on there?

I'm using Palemoon 27.8.1 (64 bit) for Manjaro-Rolling

Btw. There is another strange thing: seems that palemoon does not accept to save any password. Is there a way to try to correct that (which is not a fresh reinstallation)? May be the logins.json and the key3.db are corrupted?
