Quota server full?

Unread post by Wikkid » 2016-06-18, 09:51

For the last day or so, I've had random popups at the bottom of my browser saying that the sync server was full and to check my quota. I've unsynced a few things, but this is the first time since getting the browser months ago that I've had any mentions of sync quotas. It said I was using 15mb and I took off my history and a few others (history being the larger one) and it's still clocking me at 14mb, even though what I have synced doesn't add up to that.

I don't really know where to look or what to look for re: this, so any help would be wonderful. Thank you.

You can check how much you have in use from options -> Sync, and under manage account, select "view quota".

If you have synced multiple devices in the past on the same account (or multiple installations) it's possible those other devices are still taking up space in your account. To clean that up, please see the instructions in the sticky topic viewtopic.php?f=52&t=11862

I've only had Pale Moon installed for a few months (could be half a year, my sense of time is bonkers), and it's been my primary browser on my desktop since I've gotten it. I don't have any other devices other than my desktop, so it's not a case of multiple syncs. I also clear my cache multiple times a day, including history and form data. I don't go to a lot of sites, so it's pretty much been the same handful with multiple cleared caches. I'm not entirely sure what the solution would do as I don't have any other devices to unsync.

... Why are you using Sync if you only have 1 browser installation? Sync isn't meant to be a backup solution.
In any case, you can see what is taking the most space on the sync server in Options, as I indicated, and go from there to see what takes most of your quota and what can be done about it.

The solution with creating a new key would make sure that any leftover data not claimed otherwise is removed. If you don't have other devices, you can just create a new key straight up and that will clear and re-sync your data.

As an aside, it's not recommended to clear your cache very often -- that counters the very reason for the cache to be there.
