Can't sync more than 3 devices
Posting here because I don't seem to have posting privileges in the Sync subforum.
I've gotten Palemoon sync set up successfully on 1 desktop, Android phone and tablet (3 in all). Now I'm trying to add my laptop as well, but am unable to. I've tried to add the laptop's PM installation to my phone, and to my desktop. In both cases when I enter the 3 codes, nothing happens, then the laptop simply shows a different set of 3 numbers. If I go the 'I don't have device' route and enter my sync key, it claims the key is invalid. What gives?

Re: Can't sync more than 3 devices
On your desktop, select "pair a device" -- on your laptop, select "set up sync" and then "I have an account" -- enter the code you are given on your laptop (12 characters) in your desktop Pale Moon, and that should be it!
I've also adjusted the forum permissions, they might not have been set up properly the first go around. I'll move this thread over there.

Re: Can't sync more than 3 devices
I tried that the first time, on entering the code nothing happens for a few seconds, then the laptop simply displays a fresh set of codes!
And if I try the 'I don't have device with me' route and enter the sync key, it says the key is invalid.

Are you sure your Pale Moon versions are all up-to-date?

Sorry for the late reply, but yes, I have the latest Android/Windows builds everywhere.

Re: Can't sync more than 3 devices
Sorry, this really is a bit of a headscratcher.
If the laptop displays new codes, then for some reason or another, the link-up and exchange of data would have given an error.
Is there anything in about:sync-log on your laptop from the time you tried it? The debug (error) logs can usually provide some insight.

Hmm.. it just shows a failure, nothing else. I'll have to see if the server log has any more information, when I have time to grab it.
Can you verify that the following preference is set to default (value shown)?
The other errors in the log are that you don't have a recovery key configured.

Hah!
You're trying to sync Waterfox 40 with Pale Moon? That's not possible (or allowed by the ToS, for that matter).
Code: Select all

Re: Can't sync more than 3 devices
But I wasn't! This is a profile migrated over from Waterfox - could that be the problem?

Re: Can't sync more than 3 devices
I suggest you start with a fresh profile - no telling what Waterfox ended up putting in the profile if this is the useragent the sync client passes to the keyserver.

Re: Can't sync more than 3 devices
Did that, after backing up the various SQLite databases from my old profile, so it's all good now
Thanks for being patient with this!
