Pale Moon Sync will be off-line for database maintenance for approximately 6 hours.
We expect to be on-line again 2015-12-01 @ 18:00 GMT 22:00 GMT

Unfortunately this is taking significantly longer than expected. We are now at 50% of the database maintenance run, so our estimated time of completion will be around 04:30 GMT tomorrow. Since that is the dead of night, I'll be looking into potentially running the latter part of maintenance in an on-line state (the service will be running but will be very slow) if possible to do so, to prevent having to wait even longer.

UPDATE: I've now put the maintenance run to an on-line state. This means that Pale Moon Sync is available, however, because I/O heavy database updates are still on-going, the service will be slow and may also give gateway or time-out errors. This is the best that can be done in this situation.

Is there a way to temporarily stop PM from attempting to sync (without actually unlinking the device), or to get it not to try for so long on each attempt? I figure all the hammering of these repeated failed attempts can't be helping the server get back up to proper speed, and while it's sitting there spinning and spinning it hampers other interaction with bookmarks. I looked in about:config and filtered to "services.sync" to see if there might be any obvious timeout adjustments, but I don't really know what I'm looking at.
