v11 development

Unread post by Moonchild » 2012-03-09, 10:01

The mercurial release tree was merged today for Firefox-release, which means the source code is now available.

Considering the amount of work needed for this particular version, I'll go through a full dev cycle with as much testing as is allowed.

Notes to self:
  • Integrate status bar functionality
  • Revert changes to add-on compatibility assistant since the exceptional case for the status bar add-on no longer applies. Update scopes parameter.
  • Update icon for 32&64 bit
  • Check and update branding changes
  • Make sure to keep the about box consistent.
  • Possibly update artwork. Minor change for legibility only.
  • Update portable re: backups of data

Found an addon mentioned by Mozilla called old-default-image-style which you might be interested in using for version 11 if you don't already have it sorted.

... why would I want to revert that?
having the images centered is a Good ThingTM

It was about the background color of the images more than anything else and the ability to configure that as well as the centering.

View that pic in FF11 you'll see it kills the transparency.

It doesn't kill anything. It properly displays the transparency, but you just have the issue that it is an image designed to be displayed on a white background

Similarly, if you would look at an image with transparency that is designed to be displayed on black in the old way of doing it, you'd run into the same issue.
Pale Moon/Firefox is a web browser, not a graphics application or image viewer. You can't expect it to cater to every possible contingency.

If you need it configurable for your particular use, then you should use the add-on ;) That's the beauty of having extensions available.

Is Pale Moon 11 gonna be out today or something? It looks like you're done doing pretty much everything with it.
