I was wondering if there are any JavaScript performance improvements planned. Most websites I use work again now, but some of them render very slowly.

Use an adblocker, half of the scripts on websites these days are third party tracking and analytics crap. Beyond that there's nothing to be done about sites coding to the latest draft shiny in Chrome rather than to the (ever shifting) spec.
