I think he's on 30.0.0. Read what your quoted from him. He doesn't want to go back to 29.Nuck-TH wrote: ↑2022-03-22, 03:29Version 29.4.4 is confirmed stable by time, so you may want to investigate reason for crashes that may be in you setup(OS/drivers or hardware issue) or extensions/plugins you use.linuxrocks123 wrote: ↑2022-03-22, 03:24I'm experiencing crashes on Linux and would rather not go back to 29. Re: recall of 30.0.1
It is not a matter of setup, OS, drivers, hardware, extensions or plugins. There are known problems in 30.0.0 that cause crashes. The options to resolve that are to upgrade to 30.0.1 or fall back to 29.4.4. And unfortunately, it does not look like the Linux version of 30.0.1 is still available.Nuck-TH wrote: ↑2022-03-22, 03:29Version 29.4.4 is confirmed stable by time, so you may want to investigate reason for crashes that may be in you setup(OS/drivers or hardware issue) or extensions/plugins you use.linuxrocks123 wrote: ↑2022-03-22, 03:24I'm experiencing crashes on Linux and would rather not go back to 29. @ ron_1
As far as I know, and I run linux, 30.0.1 was never released for linux. It got pulled before it was supposed to be publicly released.

Re: recall of 30.0.1
Alas, I honestly don't know. I'm a Linux user meself, but I was holding off on updating to v30 for a variety of reasons. The Linux releases forum thread never posted any notification of a 30.0.1 release, but I scoured around the usual places and can't find it. So either it was never made available or it was available for a period of time and was pulled. In either case, I can't find it now.

Thanks Night Wing and Nigaikaze. It's a moot point anyway as 30.0.0 runs just fine for me.

Re: recall of 30.0.1
I wish 30.0.1 for Linux would be made available. I have no backup of my profile from before the update and 30.0.0 crashes randomly. I guess, when it decides to check for app updates - the "Check for Updates ..." menu option provides instant halt functionality, now. I'm just glad, I was that reckless to just update on my private pc and not on my work laptop.

Re: recall of 30.0.1
My installation of 30.0.0 ( 64-bit ) came from the PCLinuxOS synaptic, and works fine with no crashes.
I mentioned a problem with Google elsewhere *, but re-enabling an extension cured that.
.
Thanks, and my sympathies to Moonchild for everything.

Re: recall of 30.0.1
Thanks for the info, Moonchild. Now I know not to bother looking for 30.0.1 anymore I think I'll stick with 30.0.0 despite the occasional crashes. My best wishes to you, and good luck as you clean up this unfortunate, entirely preventable mess. Some people can be very cruel, and I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.

Re: recall of 30.0.1
I'm using 64 bit linux Pale Moon 30.0.0 since it became publicly available and Pale Moon has not crashed at all for me. This was before Moonchild pulled this version.
I get all of my linux Pale Moon tarballs from the link below and have never had any problems with the browser by using the tarballs from the link.

For what it's worth, I've been using Pale Moon 30.0.0 for Linux with no issues, including on Youtube. I'm running Pop OS.

Re: recall of 30.0.1
Hi I'm a little confused, is it imperative to go back to 29? I don't have any serious issues with 30 at the moment, except with YouTube live streams. So rather than rolling back, I'm happy to wait for 30.1 but I'm unclear as to whether that's in development at all?

Re: recall of 30.0.1
29.x is the current, active branch, that is going to receive updates and fixes,
30.x is abandoned,
31.x is being worked on, but it will take some time.

Re: recall of 30.0.1
Thanks. So what's the best and easiest way to roll back? I imagine I can't just simply install an "older" version over 30.0.1? I've never went back in PM updates, so I'm not sure what to do, sorry.Kerebron wrote: ↑2022-03-28, 22:1729.x is the current, active branch, that is going to receive updates and fixes,

Re: recall of 30.0.1
If I'd have to do that, I'd do a fresh 29.4.5 installation and then I'd add a backed-up profile from 29.4.4. I don't think 30.x profiles are backward-compatible, but I might be wrong. I wouldn't risk it anyway.

Re: recall of 30.0.1
I know about the non backward compatibility of pale moon profiles. Is a statement possible if the file places.sqlite is an exception to this rule when moving 30.0.1 -> 29.4.4 ?

Re: recall of 30.0.1
I don't fight the problem. I rolled back to 29.4.5 on six of my hard drives which were running 64 bit Pale Moon.
Five hard drives were running 64 bit linux Pale Moon 30.0.0 (for linux Mint) and one hard drive which was running 64 bit windows Pale Moon 30.0.1 (for Windows 7) on it.
After I rolled back; I made a clean new install of everything which includes a new profile, my preferred Preferences in Pale Moon, bookmarks and themes. Pale Moon is now running as smooth as silk on all of my six hard drives.

Re: recall of 30.0.1
I exported my bookmarks and a few extension settings from v30 and then archived the palemoon/ and '.moonchild productions/' folders, downloaded the new 29.4.5 tar.xz file and extracted it in the same folder location on my first GNU/Linux system. A few minutes later after importing the bookmarks and settings files and setting up a few extensions I was done. Then I copied the entire '.moonchild productions/' folder and put it on my second GNU/Linux system, downloaded and unpacked the 29.4.5 tar.xz file to replace the v.30 palemoon/ folder, and instantly that one was up and running.
I don't think the '.moonchild productions/' folder from the 64-bit system will be a drop-in replacement on my 32-bit system, but I might try it just for the fun of seeing if it works at all or if it fails in spectacular fashion.
