Request for a Pop-up Blocker message banner timeout Preference

Unread post by Blacklab » 2021-11-02, 22:40

I seem to be getting noticeably more pop-ups blocked nowadays even with an up-to-date set of uBlock Origin filters.

When Pale Moon's built-in Pop-up Blocker is set to block pop-ups a further selection then offers to show 'pop-up blocked' messages or not.

I prefer to see the 'Pale Moon prevented this site from opening 'x' pop-up windows' messages, but these banners need to be manually closed each time. An automatic timeout setting for the pop-up warning message banner would be a small but useful addition to the UI and enhance the browsing experience IMO. :)

Would it be possible to add another 'privacy.popups' Preference (perhaps a hidden one?) to allow a time-out delay for the pop-up warning message banner to be set? :?:

Perhaps a variable integer preference offering a range of 'banner timeout' options in seconds (or parts of a second), or if less complex a boolean preference that enabled/disabled a set 'banner timeout' value of a few seconds.

Update your uBlock filter subscriptions, or add more. I recommend EasyList, EasyPrivacy and the ones by Fanboy.

That would be counter-intuitive if you WANTED to see what the popup is or see the popup its self. So no.. This is a bad idea.. The best that MIGHT happen, even though I would personally detest it, is if Moonchild decided to make it a doorhanger instead of an infobar.

Doorhangers are the work of Satan, btw.

... and then what? Not having an option to allow only some? The infobar does more than just give you a message, it also has the control to take action. As such, taking the option for that message away after an arbitrary delay is dumb and frustrating.

Doesn't the page-report-button in the address bar do the same task, though?
