No tag for release 29.4.1 in Pale-Moon.git

Unread post by Bababo26 » 2021-09-14, 14:38

There is no 29.4.1_Release tag in https://repo.palemoon.org/MoonchildProd ... /Pale-Moon repository!

I build using the gentoo overlay https://github.com/deu/palemoon-overlay which uses the git repository and the tag to download the source code which means my attempt to build 29.4.1 using a self made ebuild file is failing.

In addition if I download the source from http://archive.palemoon.org/source/pale ... rce.tar.xz and check the palemoon version I get

$ tar xOf palemoon-29.4.1-source.tar.xz palemoon/config/version.txt
29.5.0a1

Which looks wrong.

Well, now Pale Moon repo site even reports 404 and UXP site redirects me to archived repo owned by mystery user mcp-graveyard. Someone hacked site or what?

My mistake. I'll re-pack from the correct FE branch.
(code-wise there is no difference as they were in sync, but it was an incorrect archive)

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=27369 should explain the current situation in a nutshell.

Sorry for the short notice and the noise with the archive. Making rapid organization-wide changes is hard and some things were done manually this time around.
EDIT: archive has been updated. Enjoy your building!

Note currently the https://repo.palemoon.org/MoonchildProductions/Pale-Moon.git used by the old ebuilds is not redirecting to the mcp-graveyard version whereas the UXP submodule https://repo.palemoon.org/MoonchildProductions/UXP.git is redirecting to the mcp-graveyard version.

Is this an oversight?

Hopefully so, as the Issue Tracker link in the About dialog is dependent on it.

There will not BE a public issue tracker anymore.

None of the smilies express the sad.

Guess I can cancel my repo account request.

Well you know who you can thank for that.

A future process may be implemented at some point. Though most won't like it.

That was an oversight with the reorganization but unfortunately that can no longer be corrected.
You'll have to issue an update to the ebuilds, I'm afraid, if you want to continue offering the older versions.

Is the development still using git? Or mercurial like mozilla uses?

Why not have 2 repos, 1 private for development and 1 public which would be updated with 1 big commit once in a month on new release? It would make looking at changes much more easier.

And how would that be different from using diff on the tarballs? Oh, that's right, it wouldn't be, and it would just cause more work for us.
