Observation / full theme / 29.0.0a1 (2019-12-18)

Unread post by JoeyG » 2019-12-19, 09:30

I use the venerable Red Cats (green flavor) full theme.

The 29.0.0a1 portable version of 18 December informed me that this theme is incompatible and had been removed.

Is the incompatibility due to an intentional code change that targets full themes or the inadvertent result of something else?

Thank you.

P.S. Happily, I was able to install it successfully with Moon Tester Tool 1.2.0.

That theme was incompatible to begin with, given it was made exclusively for Firefox.

Themes are a much different beast than extensions. Milestone version changes are important.

Put simply: Themes are always strictCompatibility and strictCompatibility is strict.

Thank you for your reply.

I'm not sure how long ago "to begin with" refers to in this case. The theme (v. 6.0.0) gets no complaints whatsoever from PM 28.8.0 and until the most recent 29.0.0a1 was also not problematic in the unstable builds.

Please excuse me, but I don't understand what you mean in this specific case. That is, I understand the words, but not what you're trying to explain in regard to my issue.

Again, thank you for your reply.

If you don't understand basic fundamentals of testing classical mozilla-style software let alone after two years on this forum then it means you SHOULDN'T be running an unstable build.

Thank you for your reply.

My question is whether there's a particular reason why this issue popped up in this update.

Again, thank you.

You need to stop posting about this damned theme. Firefox Themes are incompatible.. PERIOD. You are the kind of fuckin moron that prompted Mozilla to drop full themes, you know that?

Your tone is questionable, but your observation is probably accurate. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

My tone is appropriate or at least in character for me who has in the course of two years told you the same thing over and over. I would suggest you not ever post about this incompatible Firefox theme again.

Tobin has right to be upset and yell at you. You've been around and active for quite a while -- and it gets bloody annoying having to tell the same people the same things again and again.
