Moving.

Unread post by Moonchild » 2023-06-02, 10:18

In the coming months things from my end are going to be a bit sparse, as I'm working on packing up my apartment as I will be moving further north this summer. I'll do my best to keep up with code commits and organizing the project as best i can, but as you may understand I'll be busy organizing moving to a different town and all the bureaucracy that also goes with that.
Thanks to all for understanding!

Good luck Moonchild, hope you get settled hassle free in your new location
Guess you're flying north in the summer instead of south for the winter ;)

Good luck!
I'm also moving. I had to dump 500 kg (more than 1000 pounds) of random stuff despite a slightly bigger apartment. And I still have too much stuff (nice to have...).

May not be. If you don't throw stuff out on a whim - it quickly adds up in weight.

Can't move by yourself. Beer party/moving party in Sweden this summer.

I hope you aren't in a 3rd floor apartment or above - lugging boxes down stairs kills my back everytime I have to help my daughter move.

Books, furniture, clothes, computers, electronics, skis... basically stuff accumulated during a lifetime. I'm almost 50 years old so I won't be installing Windows XP on a bare metal dual core machine anymore. Eventually everything gets old even if it was nice to have these things back in the day. Time is limited and with too many possessions it's also hard to organize and get an overview of what you actually have.

I would like a minimalist lifestyle, but I'm too much of a materialist.

Already very busy arranging a moving co and all. August's Pale Moon release will be delayed as a result.

I recently moved to a different continent and more recently I moved into a new apartment. Moving is a mission and a pain haha.

Good luck to you and I hope everything goes buttery smooth!

Good luck Moonchild... moving house one rung down from getting divorced in stress level terms I remember reading somewhere? :)

PS. Being boring... and totally unaware of how insurance business operates in Sweden... but perhaps consider specialist 'removals insurance' if available... and if any particularly expensive or delicate items being shifted. This sort of insurance cover not particularly expensive in UK.

I hope your move goes well.
I used to travel to Sweden quite a lot and stayed just outside Upsalla. Plenty of fresh air and long walks through the forests and of course fika. ;)
Hope it all works out for the best..

Best of luck with the move. Hope everything arrives at the destination in the same condition that it left, and that it all fits!

I hope the move goes well! Also hope it isn't too cold up there... I hear when you move further north in that part of the world, it gets very cold and you get really long nights.
"The Athenians, however, represent the unity of these opposites; in them, mind or spirit has emerged from the Theban subjectivity without losing itself in the Spartan objectivity of ethical life. With the Athenians, the rights of the State and of the individual found as perfect a union as was possible at all at the level of the Greek spirit." -- Hegel's philosophy of Mind

I'm already in an area that right now only sees a few hours of urban twilight instead of night in summer and the opposite of a few hours of sun in winter. Moving further north won't make all that much difference. Also I'd welcome the cold. I can handle cold much better than heat.

I'm the same way, but stuck in the wrong (tropical? subtropical?) climate now for 20 years. I'd give almost anything to be back in a colder climate.

+1 - moved north as well in 2016, after 26 years in one place, which if I have anything to say about it, will be the last move. Coming from extreme highs in summer that reach 105-118 Fahrenheit to where the extreme highs range 95-108 Fahrenheit (this weekend forecast is for record highs for this time of year at 104-105)... the around 10 degree average lower extreme high temps difference isn't enough , but I guess I'm stuck (high of 96 today :() at least our new location is better than it was for so long (some snow in Winter which has been a totally new experience).
