"Pale Moon is already running" message
I often (but not always) get this pop-up message when trying to open an URL shortcut:
http://postimg.org/image/yoi6mygkh/
How do I avoid this?

Re: "Pale Moon is already running" message
Have you triggered another instance of PM?
Which version of PM - XP are you running?
I just tested, and can run two PM instances with no issues. (not recommended though, on my old system!)
The page listed displays normally here. (Oh, I see it is just the screen dump of the message you are receiving)
What URL are you getting this transient message on?

Re: "Pale Moon is already running" message
Am using PM version 25.5.0 (x86) with Windows XP-SP3. I should have been a little more specific in my original post: the message can come up with any URL, no specific website in particular. I too can have more than one URL open at the same time, it's after closing the last one and then almost immediately trying to open a new URL, that the message will come up, as I said, sporadically, not always.

Closing the browser does not instantly have the entire process shut down. It will take a few moments for the browser to completely close, and if you try to launch it again within that time frame, you will get the message that it's already running, because the browser has not completely shut down yet. It's an inherent result of the size and complexity of Pale Moon.
If you often open and close the browser this way, it would probably be beneficial for you to slightly adapt your habits and to keep a browser window running, so any new URLs don't have to start an entirely new instance of the browser.

O.k., I will attempt to reproduce this message using your described actions, this morning (about 12 hours from now). I have the same general config as you. I also get a transitory error (server not ready / available) but it is normal when traffic is high, or the data rate is slow. : )
Re: "Pale Moon is already running" message
Moonchild and I were both in the editor at the same time so I was not able to see the response until I saved mine.
As Moonchild indicated, 'waiting' a little for operations to complete is probably the most important guidance for any computer user.
When I teach people how to run their machines, I always tell them to check their drive lights, and make sure they are either off, or solid. Not perfect, but it avoids many conflicts.
Patience with complex programs is always good practice. 'Let it finish' so to speak.

Re: "Pale Moon is already running" message
Thanks Moonchild and L.Bell. Yes, apparently I was trying to open the second URL seconds too soon after closing the first one. I have since discovered that if I wait 4 or 5 seconds between closing one URL and opening another, the issue doesn't present itself, or as suggested, simply keep URL #1 open (minimized) while going to URL #2.
Re: "Pale Moon is already running" message
Hey L Bell, Another great program to see what your system is doing is a small program called Process Explorer.
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sys ... 96653.aspx
It can run in the task bar for us XP users and gives a on the fly look at what is going on with your machine.
It is highly customizable and allows me to see Memory usage, processor load, Hard drive in and out, and Memory commitment.
You can also use to replace the task manager so when you hit "ctrl, alt, delete" it comes up instead.
This is especially helpful if your computer does not have a hard drive light as some of the new computers don't.
Another great feature is the ability to "kill" any task that is not responding without windows trying to ask you if you want to send info to Microsoft and adding another load to the computer when a program is not responding.
Sorry I know this post is kinda off topic but since you guys were talking about it I thought it might help.
