Re: Pale Moon on legacy hardware
Wow! Really! Oh well, I'll keep using it until it gives me serious issues or is really outdated. Besides I got MBAE for the extra protection and they've just recently made some improvements for Firefox/Pale Moon mitigations.

Yes, the Atom/WinXP build will continue to be supported.L Bell wrote:Is the Atom / WinXP build going to be continued? (for clarity)

It is one and the same.L Bell wrote:Is the Atom / WinXP build going to be continued? (for clarity)
I added /WinXP to it after initial release because people didn't read what it supported, to be perfectly clear that the "netbook version" is both optimized for Atom AND supports Windows XP. That won't change.

The question was answered before and after my last response, but.. . .
Off-topic:
There was a nice definitive response to my question in this thread, but it doesn't appear anymore. Can a user delete their posts?

Re: Pale Moon on legacy hardware
Hint 1
defrag/compress pale moon files: http://www.crystalidea.com/speedyfox
Hint2
there are still updates for 'XP32' by use of a small registry tweak
I am not sure admins here like it to be posted at this board but you can search yourself for '[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady]', many sites provide a howto (this month MS released a patch even for internet explorer

Re: Pale Moon on legacy hardware
Hint2 is something you shouldn't do. If you even consider this, please understand what you're doing: You are telling Windows to get updates for a different product than what you have installed; in the long run this will very likely break your installation.
We won't provide support if you use this hack and run into problems with Pale Moon. In fact, we don't support any PoSReady installations at all because it's not meant to be used as a desktop operating system.
If you want to continue using Windows XP on legacy hardware, then make sure you are conscious about the potential of it being vulnerable, and use additional steps to protect yourself: Be careful using internet software that came with the OS because it may have vulnerabilities -- using Pale Moon as a browser is a good idea
-- and use a good software firewall to limit unwanted inbound and outbound traffic.
