Silverlight Add-On vs 25.3.0 Atom

heyas! (yep, atom on xp, here.)


i updated pale moon last night. tonight, i went to netflix to enjoy a little mindless non-interactive entertainment... but when i hit 'play' on anything, netflix jumps up and tells me minimum compatibility nonsense -- indicating i can't play their streaming videos. i think, 'wtf, netflix cut me off and didn't give any warning?'

well. i checked with my opera browser, and playing videos on netflix worked fine.


i think that's the silverlight add-on, right? my silverlight was last updated feb 13, 2014. version 5.1.30214.0 (how come i can't copy and paste from the add on manager? :X ). it's marked as always activate. it's listed as on and functioning. there's no button i can see that will check for an update or force an update or... whatever.


what can i do?

Netflix is terrible about User Agent sniffing and bias. My guess is it is likely this. Please see the many MANY UA related threads and topics floating about and play with an override. Hint: Mess with the Windows version slice and the gecko / Firefox version slice.

change to:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:25.2) Gecko/20150122 Firefox/31.9 PaleMoon/25.2.1

With that override it would mean the override in place can just be removed.
Since I don't have a netflix subscription, can someone verify this?

On Windows 7 i am till using the default 24.9 override and it works.. So this is odd.. Will play with it and get back to you.
