Unread post by joeinmi » 2016-02-04, 02:28

Hello
I am running xp sp3. I have been using adam 25.x, I saw there was an upgrade yestereday and did the upgrade. Everything went fine. But today, it will not run. Windows cannot access the specified file or path..... permissions. Okay fine. I will just download it again. Nope. Okay, I will download and install in new folder. Nope. Still the same.

Check your virus scanner.. It likely put it in a box because it didn't know what it was. Try adding an exception for it.

Also let me guess.. You use Avast.

Did you click the "no thanks" button on the updater window?

-> Menue -> Help -> About Pale Moon -> "Button" Check for Updates

= getting message "Pale Moon is up to date" as you seen in the print-screen.

The easiest solution is to download 26.0.3 and install it manually. The internal updater seems to download the full 20+MB installer anyhow.

That would happen if you click the "No Thanks" button on the large update window that pops up, that is what I meant to say.
Server-side everything is in order (I double-checked).

Downloading the installer and running that as suggested would be a solution for your problem.

I had a similar problem with SecureAnywhere from Webroot. The specific problem involved the file plugin-container.exe accessing the internet. I added the file to the white list. If anyone else is having the same problem,

open the control panel and click on the gear after [PC Security], open the tab [Block/Allow Files], click on [+ Add File], then navigate to C:\Program Files\Pale Moon, highlight [plugin-container], and click [open]. That should prevent any further nonsense.
