Re: Adobe flash player is on the EOL schedule now. Does it make big impact on our pale moon project?
Short answer, "no".
I've already uninstalled Flash in both of my linux and windows Pale Moon. All of the websites I used to access and had to use Flash for them, those websites no longer require Flash since they've all gone to HTML5.

If you want to keep using Flash beyond the end of the year, save a copy of the installer because Adobe plans to sabotage the plugin with their final update so it will stop working. This is in case you want to continue using websites that offer flash games.

Although Adobe Flash Player is a NPAPI plugin, it will not impact Pale Moon directly, but Adobe said it will stop working.
For Ubuntu, you can find the packages (also old versions) here: http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/poo ... ashplugin/
For Windows you can also keep the offline installer: https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/f ... player.exe
I also recommend keeping old versions in the case that Adobe already implemented the kill switch in older versions.

I haven't seen a single site that uses Flash this year.
Can someone tell me what the point should be to keep Flash setup files?
Me won't keep Flash either until the sky falls on my head .

For example most old internet games use flash, you can find many of them, e.g. that http://www.adamatomic.com/canabalt/

Ah see, game sites. I didn't think of that - thank you. I've never played on game websites before.
But just in case, I'll keep the penultimate Flash setup now .

Online game sites are my primary reason for carrying on using flash beyond the end of life...will every flash site just go up in a puff of smoke in the new year.?..I doubt it and once again google is cracking the whip and pulling the strings.

Some already removed Flash games, e.g. https://www.spielaffe.de
Others like https://y8.com still have Flash games.
Also lots of are hosted on Newgrounds and hopefully will stay there: https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/543755

They offer it, but I think you can still use Adobe's Plugin (if it wasn't killed by a kill switch, we'll see).Moonraker wrote: ↑2020-10-18, 06:31Looks like newgrounds will require the use of the newgrounds player after december.Pentium4User wrote: ↑2020-10-18, 06:26Some already removed Flash games, e.g. https://www.spielaffe.de

Re: Adobe flash player is on the EOL schedule now. Does it make big impact on our pale moon project?
I will no longer be updating Flash either. Though I'm not sure I'll have a choice on my Windows 8.1 laptop as Flash is built in and automatically updates, and I don't know how to stop it. But for all my other computers, they're Win 7, so I can control that at least. I think it's sad that Adobe can't just let people have Flash for all the game sites which still have Flash games (like Kongregate). I really hate when companies (like Microsoft, etc.) try to force people to do what they don't want to do. People should have choices. Not all developers for games are updating their old games which means some will still have Flash, and others will still have Java games. If those games still exist, we should have a way to continue playing them. *sigh*

Re: Adobe flash player is on the EOL schedule now. Does it make big impact on our pale moon project?
Only the ActiveX version of Flash is included in Win 8 and newer, this only affects Internet Explorer and other ActiveX browsers, but doesn't affect Pale Moon. PM uses NPAPI and needs the NPAPI plugin.

Is the NP thing included on Win 8.1? I'm not a tech person. I've said before, and I'll say again, I can turn the computer on, and install games, and download the proper needed browser, but that's about it outside of playing online games and doing research online for stuff.

Re: Adobe flash player is on the EOL schedule now. Does it make big impact on our pale moon project?
Not, the NPAPI plugin isn't included and needs to be manually downloaded from Adobe's website and manually installed.
They just included the ActiveX plugin to ensure that people using Internet Explorer can use Flash, mostly on YouTube, in 2012 it was necessary for YT to have Flash installed and enabled.

Well, that sucks, but thanks for the info.
I don't have that laptop anywhere I can currently access it thanks to the Virus, so I don't know when I'll be able to get to where it is so that I can add that NP thing to it.
