Pale Moon forum

Pale Moon does not accept Web Of Trust to indicate site-safety in search engine web searches. There were very very very few old addons/plugins/extensions with other names, but not sure how good or active those are. I had a couple of them installed, tried some searches on search enginers, but there were no safety-indicator icons shown with the items in the listings. Also, the browser did not show an icon either at the top or the bottom while these extensions or addons were installed.
Are there ANY search-safety addons for Pale Moon like Web Of Trust?

this has WOT integrated.

flagfox not doing what W.O.T. would do. I just tried it and then made a google search. NO ratings icons next to the search items listed. There is a country flag in the address bar but that alone is meaningless. Any extensions for Pale Moon that will give the functionality as W.O.T,?

A way to work around this is found:
Norton's Safe Search site, https://search.norton.com/, https://search.norton.com

Placed into the Bookmarks bar of my Pale Moon browser

Click on the link on that page for Norton Safe Search (Ask) and when the dialog pops up, click on "Add". This will add Norton Safe Search to the Search Bar, and you can select it from among the other search engines.

Thanks. That I now tried and is something that I want. I wish I could also see the same kind of warning/safety icons in searches on Duckduckgo and Google, but adding norton.search.com to the Pale Moon web search feature is good.

I do not want to spark a heated debate here, but this "web of trust" thing is unnecessary in my opinion, in fact bad. It can be seen as a mild form of censorship. It is similar to Google Safe browsing. NO TNANKS! I know whom to trust, whom to do business with. The website I trust might be seen as unsafe by others. And it gets dirty when the things are across the border. Russian web links might be seen as untrusted in US while they can be totally safe, and indeed popular in Russia. Trust is a personal thing.

Then there is also a privacy angle to it - they know everything you search online.

Exactly.
If you want safe searches install and harden uBlock Origin. If you browse with pop-ups, fonts, scripts and frames blocked you'll have a level of security no ratings tool can provide. Then just create a whitelist of your trusted sites.
With time I created a list of rules and filters long as a toilet paper roll; I back it up and import it if I need to reinstall the browser/OS.

Well "most" extensions "know" what you search etc as they need to in order to function correctly.This is what has always puzzled me about chrome users who complain about extensions reading their data when in fact the very browser they are using is doing the exact same.

Web of Trust has a history of selling users' browsing history.

This is making me lost. I chose for the adblocker, Adblock Latitude, because that what the addon's page for Pale Moon says we should use. The adjustments to the use of uBlock I do not understand and not know how to make.

This add-on has a learning curve, but it's worth it.
