Java 7u10 plug-in not working in Pale Moon (x86)

Unread post by Pasta Viking » 2012-12-20, 00:59

Hello,

I am currently using Pale Moon 15.3.2. When I try to install the new version of Java, it seems to install properly to my computer, but the plug-in does not seem to be noticed by Pale Moon. I am installing the correct version (x86 for both browser and Java download, online and offline install both do not work), but only the Java Deployment Toolkit, not the Java Platform SE U10 plug-in appears in the plug-in list. As a result, I am unable to run any Java applications through my browser. Previously when I installed new versions of Java, they worked perfectly and after I reinstalled 7u9, everything started to work again. Is this a problem that others are having too, or is it just me?

Thanks

When you update Java, unfortunately old versions are left on your system which can interfere with the updating process and/or correct functioning of new versions. The key is to completely uninstall Java and then install the latest version. You can do this via Control Panel, in Add - Remove Programs. However it is best to completely remove all traces of old versions in order to get a clean install. There is a very good tool available for this called JavaRa. Please have a look at these links for more information:

Hey, sorry for the late reply. I uninstalled all versions of Java from my system (including the 64-bit versions and the JDK I had on here) and ran JavaRa to get rid of anything else that might be there, re-installed the new version of Java, and now everything works like a charm. Thank you very much. :D
