Plugins Check

Unread post by paadt » 2012-10-14, 15:08

I have been using Pale Moon for several years, but now when ever I open a browser I get two tabs, one is my home page and the other is "Firefox Web Browser - Plugin Check". This is very annoying and I can't see a an option to turn this off! Anyone know what i need to do?

First check.... open: Pale Moon button>Options>Options>select General tab in Options window> (or via Tools>Options>etc if you use Menu Bar) In "Startup - When Pale Moon starts:" dropdown menu box have you somehow accidentally selected "Show my windows and tabs from last time" rather than just the usual "Show my home page" option?

If "Show my home page" is selected, you may have set multiple pages as the home page. Change the Home Page entry to your preferred home page or click the "Restore to Default" button to reset the default home page. See this mozillaZine article: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser_start ... ndows_open and also this Mozilla Support page: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/sto ... ng+Firefox

If none of the above works please clarify two points:

1. By "a browser" do you mean just Pale Moon, Firefox as well, or (admittedly rather unlikely!) all your installed browsers?

2. Have I understood correctly?.... You start Pale Moon and your homepage loads normally and opens as usual.... but in the Tab bar there is now a second tab showing, not open, but when clicked on a "Firefox Web Browser - Plugin Check" page opens? Is this Pale Moon's built-in "Add-ons Manager - Plugins" page or an external Mozilla page?.... do you mean this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/?.... and if not what is your page's url?

I am getting this problem as well - upon starting Palemoon, another page (I only have one page configured to start) opens and asks me regarding my plugins
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck

It is annoying - it occurs frequently (and there are no problems with my plugins)

There are lots of other users of FF complaining of the problem - the best solution is to reconfigure the URL of the page to something 'useful'.
I'd rather have a fix for the problem and not have it present at all.
