Hello!

EDIT: You can go to this link and save all this "guide". Have a nice day:

Adobe Flash Player complete installers: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#main-pars_header

This post is meant for the people that still need to distribute and use Adobe Flash player, either for legacy SWF files or services that rely in FLV videos. And need to keep updated this plug-in.

As you (may not) know, Adobe diminished the last standalone installer distribution page in late September. If you used that page for grab the installers now you are redirected to the unique download page. All download services like Filehippo or Filehorse send you to this new page as they are forbidden to distribute the standalone player.

This page poses several troubles:
  • You have bloatware offers that you must uncheck first, also adds 10-25 MB extra to your download.
  • You get a web installer instead the full installer.
  • This method only works for a single computer connected to internet, so you must do this in each computer manually or allow that Adobe update Flash for you.
  • If you need to upgrade computers offline you need to get a distribution license.

If you need to install in several machines and don't want to ink a license with Adobe, there is another solution: You can install the beta Flash player instead from Adobe Labs.

This page poses several troubles:
  • You need to uninstall the main Flash player using the uninstall tool provided in the page
  • If your project or page reads the version string provided by this player, it may get some wrong values.
  • There is no guarantee that the player break some Flash feature, so use it as your own risk.
This page have the following advantages:
  • The beta player available as standalone for MSIE, Firefox and Opera as well for Windows Vista/7/8.1, MacOS and Linux.
  • The installers can be used in several machines without need to a license.
  • This player have an auto update feature.

As you see, there are little room left by Adobe for keep your player updated without bloatware. I must admit that even old developers like me need to see for other tools like HTML5, SVG or video for replace Flash in their projects. So I hope that this little tutorial help you for made your work with flash a bit more bearable.

Greetings,
Lyceus

And in case of any urgency, you can still get previous releases (including standalone and debug ones) from Archived Adobe Flash Player versions page, packaged in Zip archives.

Does this situation pose any issues run of the mill home users of Pale Moon who have Flash installed on a single machine? Will it keep updating as per usual, or do we need to follow these directions and periodically manually update now?

The message seems to apply primarily to IT professionals or extension developers, but I just thought I'd doublecheck. Since Flash is a big transmission vector for malware, I thought it was worth looking stupid to ask and make sure we end users of Flash aren't unwittingly compromising our systems because we didn't notice that the updates stopped and that we needed to do something special. :)

You're welcome! :)

And in case you'd need some management guidance, here are PDF manuals you can download from Adobe Flash Player Administration Guide page, and try to set it up more or less your way.

I can't seem to find flash in my add-ins/plugins, even though I've installed it and rebooted. How do you enable it?
PaleMoon Version: 26.5.0 (x64)

You should uninstall it with the uninstaller you can get from Uninstall Flash Player for Windows page first, then reboot and search the registry for any remnant keys, then install it again, reboot, and see what happens.
