Actually I will miss QuickTime since it had a decent movie editor inside the Pro version of the package. Now that is gone we will rely in VCL and other players for play these legacy MOV and QT videos. Anyway no really a surprise since like Flash the thing lost relevance against the HTML5 standard.

I'm actually sort of glad that VLC is still developing an NPAPI plugin for windows users. Even though I always have had issues with VLC in the past, atleast there's an FOSS alternative to HTML5/JS and Flash.
