New Flash Player still available on "decommissioned" page

Unread post by ron_1 » 2016-03-11, 01:04

Even though Adobe's page here says it will be decommissioned on March 1st, 2016, today's new versions of Flash can still be downloaded on it.

I guess they lost track of the date. ;)

Sssshh:
CA page, I grabbed my ESR Flash from the ES page earlier.
The official security bulletin pointed me to the 190MB ESR 333 download: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb ... sions.html

This thread still has a speedy link to the ESR 333 update (although shown as v18.0.0.268):

Hello Moonraker,

if you use the Flash player in a linux environment you should use the Pepperflash-Plugin. This is developed by Google Chrome and a more updated version of flash than the "normal" flash player from Adobe which is no longer updated (besides of some security updates).

You find the plugin in the Synaptic Package Manager:
  • browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash
    pepperflashplugin-nonfree
After installation restart your Pale Moon Browser. Pale Moon works fine with the plugin. I use it under lubuntu.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Greetings
Maria

Hello mseliger,
Im sort of holding back using the pepperflash plugin until i have absolutely no choice but to use it..11.2 is still receiving security updates and i have not come across any sites which do not function with 11.2.

Thank you very much for your helpful reply.

The message has changed on Adobe's download site. It now reads: "This page and the download links will soon be decommissioned and will be replaced by a new Adobe Flash Player distribution portal that will require a valid distribution license to access." Looks like this will be the last versions of flash on this page.
