Download Manager Tweak 0.9.8

Hey there,

I noticed that DMT doesn't keep download history anymore since Pale Moon 25.1 , is there anything I can do to make it work again?

In the end I would be willing to not use DMT anymore and... may I suggest to integrate this feature in PM? I mean download in a tab, classic PM/FF Library is very awkward...

Thank you, bye!

Perhaps you are looking for about:downloads? :)

Lol , I already created a bookmark to about:downloads, but honestly it's not the same thing. DMT gives a "Google Chrome like" download tab but even more useful in my opinion. I am very used to it... I'm valuating the idea (not the best idea I know) to downgrade PM.. :(

Take a look how it works, it worth the pain ;)

Thanks, bye!

DMT works nicely in All-in-One Sidebar 0.7.20. The original download manager is a bit borked in AiOS, so I started using this one as a workaround and really like it. You could try to open
chrome://mozapps/content/downloads/downloads.xul
in a new tab, that one should keep the download history as adjusted in DMT, at least it does it for me.

Mmm... I'll give a look to AiOS, thanks

Yes I tried chrome://mozapps/content/downloads/downloads.xul.
I download a file and I see it in downloads.xul.
Then I close PM and re-open it, that page is blank, so I suppose it doesn't keep downloads history.

And this is the main reason why DMT behaves the same. DMT actually reads from chrome://mozapps/content/downloads/downloads.xul, so if it's blank... there's nothing to read.. :\

I just checked again and have no idea, what is different in my setting but DMT had 50 entries in the history which is exactly what I told it to keep. Did you allow Pale Moon to keep a history? Maybe that is the difference.

Sorry for the late...

So I performed a full PM unistall then installed again everything, I tried a download and DMT was keeping history, then I thought "Ok, I solved" and kept going on to install plugins and so on... finshed that, DMT wasn't keeping history anymore...

I have to unistall everything again, keeping track of what I do, step by step...

I update the situation later..

You have any addons installed that alter history settings?

I don't think so (see attachment), even I if freeze all of them, problem persists.
Maybe one of them breaks PM functionality when I perform the installation, so after freezing doesn't change anything. :problem:

I'll do the whole un/installation when I got more time.

Well, here I am after loosing 3/4 hours... and didn't solve anything
I performed several PM installations. Every time doing everything step by step, but suddenly the download list in chrome://mozapps/content/downloads/downloads.xul empties itself without a reason.

One time when I install the language, one another for ad block, another for no-squint, I change an icon place and restart PM and ta-da...that damned list is empty...

I give up

Maybe one day PM will have download in a tab, “maybe”

EDIT!

HORRAY!!!!

I found the guilty

privacy.clearOnShutdown.downloads has to be FALSE

Now, why on earth is set on TRUE by default??

OK, so that means you've set Pale Moon to clear history on shutdown overall (In privacy settings). The behavior is then to be expected.

The default setting if you enable the clear history on shutdown feature is to indeed clear the list of downloads, in addition to cache, cookies, form data, history and active logins.

If you did not do this yourself in options, then one of your extensions has been "helpful" in protecting your privacy this way.

Well if you say it's not the expected behaviour, I think you're right... but the problem appeared randomly...even with no apparently privacy dedicated add-ons... :wtf:

don't know really...

I'm sorry but privacy setting in the browser don't change themselves randomly, so there really has to be a cause for this, either user action or third-party software. It may even be an external piece of software like an Internet Security Suite, if it is aware of Pale Moon's profile location.
