MoonClocks 1.0.2 for Pale Moon and Epyrus

MoonClocks is a XUL fork of the original FoxClocks 4.2.3 extension for Pale Moon and Epyrus. It keeps the classic FoxClocks-style world clocks in the status bar, while updating the old extension for current Pale Moon use.

The fork is based on the GPL-licensed FoxClocks 4.2.3 codebase. No source files from the newer FoxClocks WebExtension version were used.

Main changes compared with FoxClocks 4.2.3:
  • Renamed fork with a new extension ID:moonclocks@halvar666
  • Uses the MoonClocks chrome namespace and extensions.moonclocks.* preference branch
  • Updated Pale Moon compatibility for current versions
  • Added Epyrus support
  • Updated bundled timezone database to IANA tzdb 2026b
  • Timezone database was regenerated from the public IANA Time Zone Database in the legacy FoxClocks schema 1.2 format
  • Replaced the old Google Earth / KML location workflow with OpenStreetMap links
  • Added local bundled release notes instead of old upstream FoxClocks web pages
  • Added a manifest-based timezone database update channel in MoonClocks 1.0.1
  • The tzdb updater verifies manifest schema, database schema, file size and SHA-256 before installing a downloaded database
  • Automatic timezone database updates remain disabled by default
Important upgrade notes:

MoonClocks is a separate fork and uses a different extension ID than the original FoxClocks.

Before installing MoonClocks, please back up your profile and clock settings. Then uninstall the original FoxClocks extension, restart Pale Moon or Epyrus, and install MoonClocks.

The new update channel is only for timezone database updates. It is not an XPI/add-on update mechanism.
