Greasemonkey does not work any more

Post by Goodydino » 2026-04-11, 19:30

I just checked Greasemonkey and all my scripts are gone. I am not able to install scripts again. There is a new page for a fork of Greasemonkey but I cannot find any way to download it. I guess Guerilla Scripting is the only option now?

I genuinely couldn't make it any easier for it to be downloaded.

Download my new fork of the extension here

I did find that page but the Assets did not show up. Librewolf got it.
I still do not see any way to add scripts manually. The interface is still the same. Guerilla Scripting will do. It works.
By the way, there is no toolbar button for this new version.

Since no one made a report of this issue and I don't have the exact issue that you are talking about, that means there's definitely something about your browser (My extension is showing in the menu bar, in the extension toolbar, and I'm able to add scripts manually, which is something I was making use of, when I was adding new features into the extension).

Are you able to make a new pale moon profile and then install the extension to see how it behaves?

If you're satisfied with Guerilla Scripting then, by all means you go ahead in using it. :)

You should uninstall the old GM, reset all "greasemonkey" entries from about:config, restart the browser and then install sinfulosd's new GM fork.

If your scripts are intact in the gm_scripts folder in your profile, they should work normally.

I think I should add this particular instruction somewhere. I'm thinking of adding it in the "signature" part of every post I make.

It's good as a standard cleanup process, but I did go back and forth between the old fork and the new one a dozen times, with zero issues - just by installing the one over the other.

"All my scripts are gone - I am not able to install scripts again" implies some other type of profile problem.
