Looking for a replacement for the Chrome “CoinGecko Price Ticker”

Post by Kole_Din » 2025-10-13, 14:37

hi
Switched my setup over to Pale Moon and now I’m hunting for a proper replacement for the CoinGecko Price Ticker addon that keeps my watchlist and alerts ticking every 30s. Reason for Pale Moon? Simple, each profile’s isolated, easy to snap back if one of my dashboards goes rogue, and it doesn’t eat half my RAM like Chrome does when you’ve got a dozen tabs open. Tried a few UXP addons… they show the prices fine, but background polling and webhooks are all over the shop — in a perfect world it’d just work, but nah, needs a bit of fiddling in the prefs and a cheeky Tampermonkey script. Ended up juggling a local widget plus a caching addon, not exactly neat but keeps the intraday positions in view. All in all, Pale Moon’s solid for lightweight monitoring and proper control of addons, though if I wanted reliable pro-grade polling, Chrome still wins hands down.

Don't expect a lot of help. It's almost impossible to convert to XUL.
It's been asked many times for someone to make "favicon_reloader-0.8-fx.xpi"
work however no ones seemed interested.

From the Classic Add-ons Archive:
FavIconReloader reloads Favourite Icons by retrieving information from all bookmarked web sites.

About this Add-on
A small tool to reload Favourite icons

Caution: Unfortunately there is no way to update the FavIcon from new releases of FF using e10s.

I have created a request to Mozilla but I think there will be no support for this in future releases.

It finds bookmarks without Favorit Icon and tries to fetch them from their web site.

After installation you will find the addon in the bookmark menu and in the context menu.
