Simplemail add-on
Is anyone using the old Firefox extension Simplemail with the current version of Pale Moon for Windows?
I used to use it with an earlier version of Pale Moon about four years ago, but when I reinstall it now on the current version it won't work.
Any help would be appreciated!

Hello us66mo,
i use the add-on and I have no problems with the add-on. I use it with Linux Mint and Windows 10 (same folder). What is your problem?
Greetings, Maria

Re: Simplemal add-on
I was previously using the Simplemail add-on with Pale Moon on Windows 7, when I reinstalled it on Windows 10 with the current Pale Moon build (Pale Moon is my "go to" browser), it will not remember my email account data when I store it in the add-on.
I have an older Simplemail version, when I install that, it remembers the account data but does not connect to the email server when I try to download or send mail.
Maybe your xpi version would work for me?

Re: Simplemal add-on
Hello,
my version is the version from the "Classic Add-On-Archive" (https://github.com/JustOff/ca-archive/).
One hint: The program ask for storing the password of the mail account. Normally it will not store the password. You should enter the mail account data on the account tab when you open the Simple Mail preferences. There you can also enter the password. In this case the password is stored with the mail account.

Re: Simplemal add-on
Thanks, I got Simplemail to work again!
Perhaps you can help me with another question. What format do email messages have to be in for Simplemail to import them? I tried .eml and that doesn't work.
Besten Dank für die Hilfe!

Re: Simplemal add-on
I loved trying out Simple Mail in Pale Moon (a few versions back), and it worked well for receiving emails but two things I didn't like was that I had trouble setting up the sending of emails (and I gave up trying to make it work) and it would have been nice to set the email database to be somewhere outside the Pale Moon Profile folder.
For reasons, having an ever-growing in size browser profile folder makes me nervous, and so I uninstalled Simple Mail v2.91 and switched back to using email on the web, which I find very convenient, anyway.
But it is amazing to have a Pale Moon plugin that is a complete email program!

It looks like there is such a setting.

Re: Simplemal add-on
I go through phases of installing as many interesting (and useful) extensions as I possibly can, and then reversing and deciding to remove all but the essentials . Right now I am leaning towards being minimal, but next time I have the urge to bulk up the extensions I might re-install Simple Mail and look into that setting!Kris_88 wrote: ↑2025-04-29, 09:43It looks like there is such a setting.

It still continues to amaze me to have FTP and SSH clients (which I use regularly) in Pale Moon!

Re: Simplemal add-on
Hello,
a) Import: The import is not working - I never had used the function (I always uses export or archive the mail with ScrapBook).
b) You can change the folder to store mail. I always store the mail on an external harddrive. I use the same folder with SimpleMail in Windows and in Linux (the hard drive has the format exfat) without problems.
c) There is a lot of documentation of SimpleMail:
https://www.userlogos.org/extensions/simplemail
https://www.userlogos.org/extension/simple-mail (old versions)
https://www.userlogos.org/forums/suppor ... il-archive
d) I always like that the old extensions (not webextensions) can store the data outside the profile folder, e. g. Simple Mail, ScrapBook (with multiple books), ReminderFox, Newsfox ...
So you can use the same data on a Windows computer and on a Linux computer.
Greetings from the Münsterland

Re: Simplemail add-on
With version 2.79, the import function works perfectly. Don't know why it didn't work in later versions. Somehow the code was changed.
