Greetings!
I suggest to support Finger, Gemini, Gopher, NEX, Spartan, Text etc.

Gopher used to be supported in Netscape until people of the "red lizard" have removed it.
I am writing an article about the people of the red lizard who try to influence the perception of people to believe that there is no othre protocol other than the broken HTTP protocol.

Notice, that due to the removal of XUL from version 57, ChatZilla could not be useful, which meant that the removal of XUL was also designed to prevent the interaction with other protocols, such as FTP, Gemini, Gopher, IMAP, IRC, MQTT, XMPP etc.
Basilisk and Pale Moon utilize UXP which allows me to develop software that integrate with XMPP. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=31900
Did you know that some browsers have removed support for FTP, to further try to perpetuate HTTP?

OverbiteFF already implements Gopher. But updating that browser extension is welcome

Re: Reconsidering Gemini and alike
And how is that supposed to be relevant here, in this community? ...that focuses on and builds around a XUL-based browser?
I'm quite sure that it can be adapted to support other content formats and protocols for getting content. At the very least it can be used as a guideline to build your own special-purpose extensions. None of this belongs in the browser core, IMO.jobbautista9 wrote: ↑2025-04-11, 08:44OverbiteFF already implements Gopher. But updating that browser extension is welcome
I'll be moving this to the add-ons board.

Thank you. It is good to know.jobbautista9 wrote: ↑2025-04-11, 08:44OverbiteFF already implements Gopher. But updating that browser extension is welcome
For extending the possibilities of Pale Moon and improving the browsing experience, especially with syndicated data such as Gemini feed and XMPP.
Thank you for the idea!Moonchild wrote: ↑2025-04-11, 09:32I'm quite sure that it can be adapted to support other content formats and protocols for getting content.
