A good start would be to detect, document and isolate exactly which those super-important missing features are. I did consider those security issues very important, and thankfully UCyborg pulled that off instantly.

I recall UCyborg saying in another discussion one of the main differences being: URL Tracking Protection filterlists not working in Legacy. We have excellent extensions for that, don't we? And they most probably are more powerful and customisable than whatever uBO+filterlists can manage in this area. So, that isn't really a priority unless I'm missing something and newer uBO has much more than meets the eye?

Moonbat mentioned the improved Logger and UI. While these are indeed important, I guess Firefox uBO can be used to check a website, and whatever custom filter gets created there should be working just fine in Legacy.

uBlock as it is currently offered by UCyborg seems like all that I need. I use it with eMatrix and between the two of them I never see any ads, which is what I want. I assume that tracking is also made much more difficult by using uBlock plus eMatrix, although I don't really have a way to check the effectiveness of anti-tracking. Seems like we have it pretty good with the way uBlock is currently working.

A lacking feature which comes to my mind is "Uncloak canonical names".

An older article about the issue: https://www.theregister.com/2021/02/24/ ... _tracking/

Slightly off-topic, but still on-topic...uBlock Origin Seamonkey?

https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-GB/seamonkey/addon/ublock-origin-seamonkey/

A new fork? Nah, it's a copy paste of what we knew as 1.16.6b1 here, but name, ID and version were changed, plus declarations for compatibility with applications except Firefox, Thunderbird and SeaMonkey removed, along with translations of extension's description.

And remark "Seamonkey port" added to external dependencies (?) as credit on about page. As if any porting was actually done...and I thought I was lame!

uBlock origin could utilize XUL power, to the point of being able to replace whatever extension used to filter the URL tracking on the browser. uBlock Origin on Firefox is already doing so much of a good job, that it doesn't need CleanURL extension alongside with it anymore, and if it did, it would just give it very minimal benefit.

uBlock Origin really just needs to be updated to the latest version of its WebExtension counterpart, and the majority of the issues that we're currently facing would no longer be there, and we'd need minimal amount of extensions for our browser afterwards.

If only it were that simple... Just created a specific topic for uBO requests, to keep things organised:
